Serenity The Sequel ?

Hm, well I can't say for sure but I would seriously doubt it. I think that's just a rumor that's taken on a life of it's own sadly. 🙂

As much as I would like to see a sequel to "Serenity," I don't see it ever happening. It seemed to me that the movie pretty much gave closure to the series. Anything more now would just be anticlimactic.

Given a few, or maybe MORE than a few, years, and Joss or someone else involved might attempt a new "Second Generation" series, of even a (blasphemy of blasphemies!) reboot, but I think that it's a pretty sure bet that the original crew of the good ship "Serenity" has made its final blastoff out into the cold dark void.

There is a fanmade sequel called "Browncoats Redemption" I believe. It was shown recently at a convention around here, but I missed it. I believe that the people that made it did it for charity. I think Joss OKed it, but I don't know the whole story.

I don't think a sequel will ever happen, sadly. 🙁 I think we're lucky to have gotten "Serenity", much less anything else that is "Firefly"-related.

Yeah, and Joss is very busy these days, specifically with "The Avengers" and Buffy season 9. Firefly isn't dead though, the comic books are apparently selling very well, and Darkhorse is releasing a hardcover in a couple months with a bunch of collected stories.

Never stop believing though 😀

Totally.

It's amazing that Serenity ever happened. Cancelled shows just don't get turned into big Hollywood movies. It still boggles my mind that it ever got made.

Serenity was a fantasitc celebrative dream-come-true conclusion to such a much loved and horribly ignored show.

I remember all the rumors about a sequel - even a straight-to-DVD movie. But now I've come to feel satisfied that the Firefly story is complete.

Some things are best left alone. *cough* Indiana Jones *cough*

LyteHouse, what do you think of the comics. And did you create the images in your signature yourself? That banner is so awesome!

I don't think there will be one but if there was I would be happy to see more Summer. 🙂

I actually quite like the comics, they're kinda hit-and-miss in terms of quality but Better Days is defintely the best one. It feels like an excellent 'lost episode' of Firefly.

And I think one of the reasons they work so well is that they tend to be set during the series or as prequels - rather than attempting to portray what happens after Serenity (which I don't think I'd like to see).

One comic which did irk me though was A Shepherd's Tale, giving us the backstory of Book and who he was. I really didn't think we ever needed to know that information and I loved the fact Book simply glossed over it in the movie.

Sometimes when you have character like that, its the mystery which makes them interesting - and no how matter badly you want to know, at the same time you don't want to know because it would ruin what makes them sooooo cool.

Its like in Star Wars, when Obi Wan Kenobi tells Luke about his father falling to the dark side and becoming Darth Vader. He keeps it pretty vauge and your imagination is buzzing, wondering how that all happened.

And then when you finally see it in the prequel movies.... well, its a bit shit really. And it completely diminishes the character.

Just my take on it. 😉

And thanks for the kind words about my siggy lol! And no I didn't make those images, they're just comic panels which I 'shopped and threw a few lighting effects over. I can't draw for shit. I can't even draw the curtains at night. 😛

I haven't read this one yet, but isn't there also some contradictory stuff in there too? It's just what I've heard.

LOL, so who did those comics? Those are so great!

As much as I would like to see the Serenity crew with a relatively sane River, I just don't think that another movie would be possible. Especially considering the success of Castle and Chuck, getting Nathan and Adam the time to shoot it just doesn't seem likely. Although a reboot would be OK as long as Whedon was involved.

I wish there would be a sequel but I don't see it happening anytime soon. But Joss' Hollywood cred should go up if The Avengers is a hit (and I'm sure it will be), so maybe that will help.

Personally I don't want a sequel, I enjoyed how Serenity ended and the stories in the comics. I would be open for a Browncoat prequel story though, where we see how Mal and Zoe got through the war. Or Book's story made into a film as I loved the comic of his past.

Knowing Joss, a sequel would probably end in Kaylee and/or Simon dying a horrible death, so I'll pass. (They remind me so much of Shempy and me, I'm rather happy that Joss didn't have a chance of ruining their ship yet... 😛)

I'd more than gladly go with nightshade on the idea of a prequel, though. 🙂
