So decided to post some overall headscratchers. If you guys have explanations, I sincerely would love to hear them.

Anya in Two to Go

I found it really interesting in the Dark Willow Trilogy how much of a pacifist Anya was. She just recently became a demon yet did nothing to defend herself against evil Willow. Was it because she was scared of Willow, or because she genuinely didn’t want to hurt her? Cause she had no problem fighting Buffy in selfless or kicking Spikes but in Beneath You.

Spike Hells Bells

What’s up with Spikes date? Anyone else find it weird how Spike was just hanging out in the daytime, in a bright airy wedding hall? They st least used to make an effort to explain him running around in the daytime, but here it’s like he’s average joe. And where did he meet this girl and does she think he’s human?

Dawns friends in Lessons

Anyone else get the vibe they planned more for those 2 characters? They seemed to be going with a Scooby gang 2.0 thing, especially with the dialogue from Buffy at the end suggesting they stick together. The focus on those 2, which is was actually really unsettling ( like a sore thumb) made me feel like I was watching a pilot to a new show. What do you guys think?

I’m sure there are more headscratchers from other episodes. Please post 🙂
 
Spike's date I always thought she like a vampire groupie. Little goth vampire groupie.
I think the writers forgot Anya was a demon in that episode.
I liked those two character in Lessons. Felt like a reboot. But then never mentioned again.
 
R.e. Anya I think the best explanation is that she was just genuinely scared of Willow. Buffy may be the Slayer but her powers are chiefly about strength and physical resilience so I think Anya wouldn't have much problem about fighting her (whether that's a bright idea given Buffy's tendency to win is another matter) Same with Spike - he's pretty much super-strength and fangs. On the other hand Anya witnessed Willow literally absorbing all the magic contained in those books, so I don't find it hard to believe she wouldn't know how to handle or defend herself against that.

I'm with you on 'Hells Bells'. I feel like the writers do sometimes just forget that Spike is a vampire 🙄. Though yeah, his date could have been a vampire groupie. She doesn't really do anything in the episode anyway so maybe she was just stoned throughout.

The Scooby Gang: New Generation vibe was definitely intentional in 'Lessons' - part of the idea of everything coming full circle/going back to the beginning. Not sure if there was more planned for them though. I can't remember if we ever saw them again.

I find it strange Anyanka would keep the shop and remain in Sunnydale at all as it's a mortal conceit that no other vengeance demon is shown as needing. And even if she did because she had a hard time letting go then I'd think the other vengeance demons would, by behind the scenes manipulation or outright force, sever her ties to Sunnydale for her own good.

That aside, if she were merely afraid of Willow then she could just teleport away.

She still cared about Xander; I think that was the biggest reason she stayed to fight, and she was also genuinely afraid of Willow.

Spike Hell's Bells
Spike and Angel stand in what should be direct sunlight in houses, offices, and stores all the time, and they ignore it. As far as Spike's date, I always thought she was just a member of a band that played at the Bronze, and Spike picked her up with the bad boy thing. It's a little strange that someone you just met would go to a wedding, but he probably just told her he wanted to make his ex jealous.

Dawn's Friends in Lessons
It certainly seemed like they wrote them to be in more episodes. I found it strange that they were not in Him. However once they found out the season would be the last (I think a little less than halfway through), it makes sense that they couldn't go back to them, as Dawn's school life became irrelevant.
 
In S7 First Date Spike referencing the girl he took to the wedding and seems to infer she was a 'groupie'

You should try this too. The going out thing, I mean. I mean, there's that girl you brought to Anya and Xander's not-a-wedding.

Oh, yeah, right. There's always girls who like the look—bad boy, you know. (nods) Does it for some of them.
