Seth Green On Buffy Remake

First, I hope this isn't posted, I didn't see anything-

More reaction to the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" remake from alumni has made its way online. This time Seth Green, who played the werewolf Oz for several seasons on the show, spoke about the upcoming film's effect on the fan base.

When asked during an interview with CNN about his thoughts on the reboot, Green replied:

"I saw that Joss wrote that open letter. Let's be fair, all he really said was, 'Hey, this isn't even 10 years old.' Are we really at the place where we're remaking 'Two and a Half Men'? Is that really still on the air, and we're remaking it? And where is the need for that other than some kind of capitalizing on a trend. You know, there's no public outcry for a remake of Buffy, there's only the opportunity in pop culture where vampires are very popular.

If Joss came out and said, 'I want to make a new Buffy movie,' even if he said, 'I want to do it like the reboot of Spider-Man. I want to put Buffy back in high school and I want to tell a different story with this character,' I think people would go with that. But the fact that people who are not connected to it and were not connected to the show or any of the mythology that was created going back to the movie -- which everyone kind of agreed wasn't a perfect version of its potential -- you know, I think that really confuses people. It confuses the audience. They're like, 'How am I supposed to feel about this?'

Couldn't agree more.

True, kind-of. I have an outcry for Joss to bring Buffyverse back in some form, wheather it's a Faith spin-off, or whatever. But for someone else to do it? No thanks.

By the time is willing, and, if ever, Sarah finally decides that she would be willing to actually make a Buffy movie, she and everyone else from the original is going to be too old to recreate their role, unless it's only as a cameo appearance, passing the torch, or stake, to the next generation. Obviously, when and if that happens, it'll be "Melissa, the Vampire Slayer," or "Chelsea..." or "Margo...," or maybe just "Vampire Slayer." Until then, I would just as soon that they let the idea of a reboot just sit in a dark file somewhere, aging like fine wine. Then maybe we can have wine with our hot, fresh baked Buffy cookies.

The thing I agree with most is that he said that the show isn't even 10 years old yet, I suppose that would be my main bone of contention too.

I agree with everything he says, mostly with the pop culture-vampire trend thing.

At the time of Buffy, a serie about vampire was still sort of original. Now vampires are just the cool thing...It would kill the spirit a bit to make a remake now it's fashion.

Why, exactly, is vampires the cool thing these days? JUST because of Twilight? Give.Me.A.Break. I've read all the books, and Buffy is much better, so many more layers. Why wasn't vampires this big when Buffy was on..?

That is the first reasonable opinion (aside from Whedon's) I've read from the people involved with Buffy. He makes some very valid, good points, which is a far cry from all the "This won't work without Joss" we've gotten so far.

Yeah, but a lot of us on here have been saying this exact same thing.

YES... Seth is so smart. I agree with everything he said!
I really do think it's all about capitalizing on the vampire crazy for these people behind the reboot. They don't care about the fanbase Buffy already has; they're only in it for the money.

Well it's not just Twilight, you have True Blood too. Vampire Diaries too (haven't watched this one, no interest either).

Lol yeah I know, the comic book store I use has a whole section dedicated to fiction involving the undead. So Seth is definitely correct, there's a craze out there right now that goes way beyond just Twilight.
