Sexual Identity seems to be a big thing on this board. Everyone seems more open about their orientation than most people I know in real life. That being said, how much do you think your sexual orientation defines who you are, your identity...

personally, i'm straight. but sexualy identity doesn't really bother me. i have friends who are, gay, straight and bi.
each to their own i say!

I am a proud straight woman who wishes with all her heart that her lesbian friends could get married. (a specific couple) They're so sweet to each other and I think they would be wonderful for each other together for the rest of their lives. Sorry, sorry, random gay marriage opinion....

Went for the "Don't Know Right Now - Ask Again Later"

Just a whole sitch with this guy I fancied. I never fancied a guy before, I saw how a guy was attractive but on the other hand I can see how a dog is cute, don't mean I want them. Anyway I told this person and he was flattered but not interested (which hardly surprised me) and I'm fine with that, we're friends now. I don't fancy any other guys or anything so I dunno if it was one off or what. Just sick of psycho-analysing it so I've given up doing so.

I chose the homosexual option 'cause well I'm a lesbian, duh.
I don't think my sexual orientation defines me at all though.. I have almost no gay/lesbian friends, I used to but they all bugged me. So yea, almost all my friends are extremely straight and I don't think me not being that makes me different from them in any way or anything... and I don't think about it a lot. I am usually not attracted to or interested in people anyway..
Although some people do tell me I'm so gay, mhm 😀

Yup you are sweetie... SO gay ;)
I am personally heterosexual, but I have no problem with people who are gay, bi, or whatever! Everyone's still a person, and we should all treat them the same, even if their orientation is different!!!!

Personally i'm bisexual. I have dated both men and women but i stray more toward men...and i dont think i'm any differnet from anyone else... I have both Gay/lesbian friends and very straight female and male friends and they all know i am bisexual and they all are ok with it...

I was always so sure that I was straight. But lately I've been thinking that I'm more bisexual. OMG! That's the first time I've *ever* said that!

Another thing people don't know about me: I am bisexual. I prefer guys more, but I like girls almost as much. 98% of my friends are ok with it. My best friend is having a hard time getting used to that.

It's a fact that I'm bi, but I lean more towards the side of girls. I've only been attracted to like 3 guys in my life; two of them just thinking they're cute.
Epo, just wanted to let you know that I couldn't agree more with what you said!

Nother bi here...I like girls more, rather date them and the whole thing, but, guys are ok. and if I wasn't currently more in love than I ever thought possible, I'd say hey maybe I'll fall for a guy one day. Nothing against them, I just prefer girls.

but i agree with you epo, on how it doesnt define you completely. it adds to who you are as a whole, but isn't you as a whole.

Hi, my name is Fran and I'm a homosexual. Though i don't like that word, I prefer "fabulously gay" or "les-bi-aaan". In fact, I'm so "fabulously gay" I have no straight friends. None of my closest friends define themself as heterosexual. Most of them are gay or bi, some very open minded (i.e. hussies). I'm also starting to think that my friend Martin is soon going to out himself as a "lesbian defined man".
This makes our gang sort of "special" as we can be as damn gay (and weird) as we want to without making any excuses or having to socialize with narrowminded people having trouble accepting our sexuality or whatever. We don't even think about the fact that no one is straight. We are a gang cause we like to hang out together and have loads of fun doing it, not because we're all queer. Thus I agree with Epo too.

Support group intro much? :P
Another hetero here and like many others, I have quite a few gay and bi friends, which is probably why I am such a big supporter of gay rights like marriage (so agreeing with Anchovy here).

Im mostly straight.. at the moment open minded.. been with a girl etc.. just quite confused at the moment..

I think sexual identity isn't really important and i know its a cliche but its the person that counts.

I just wish that all sexual orientations where accepted I mean in some ancient cultures homosexuality was considered but 2000 years of stigma from the church has decrease acceptance and tolerance but I reckon as we continue to advance to be post modern then orientation will no longer be an issue, I'm just sad that its not our generation that will bring about this change due to all the small, narrow minded people that still remain in this world

I clicked the choice next to homosexual, but then again, so is everyone now adays. It's the cool new thing to use the word fag and gay in a negative manner that makes people that hear it feel badly about themselves, but it's used so much during the day that everyone in the world must be gay......

I'm bi but I never admited it to anyone (even myself) til I started Uni. But that was 5 years ago so now pretty much everyone knows except my family. I told my brother once but I dont know if he believed me. I think my gran and mum know anyway. But I could never tell my dad.
I have straight friends, gay friends and bi friends. In fact my gay best friend who is so very very gay has decided he fancies me. Very strange.
None of my friends care. It was like telling them my name. It was that much of a non-issue to them. Except my best friend. Although she doesnt care in the slightest, she doesnt believe in bisexuality. She thinks its greed 🙂
I dont believe that your sexual identity defines you in anyway whatsoever. my friends havent acted any different towards me since they found out. It doesnt make me a different person. Its like how you were born. Male. Female. Gay. Straight. Bi. Whatever. You cant help it.

I'm gay but I've never seen sexual identity as a big deal, It's great how far gay and lesbian stature has come, I mean we've still got a long way to go but 90% of the people I know are ok with gay/lesbians.

Erm... nice thread Cordy. I wasn't going to answer this but I guess now's as good a time as any. I'm bi... I've only just recently admitted to myself and it was a very confusing time for me. I'm in a long term relationship with a lovely man and I'm happy. A part of me wants something else though. He knows about this too and has been very understanding. I think it takes a lot for someone to hear that their girlfriend likes girls too. So I'm proud of him. Very proud. 🙂

I don't think that your sexual identity dictates who you are. You are who you are... regardless of who you like.
