Can someone clear this up for me? Why does Angel care so much about the Shanshu prophecy?

Seriously, why is it so important?

Angel had his chance at being a human in I Will Remember You, so why didn't he take it then? (Maybe it wasn't noble enough of an action?)

But say he did do something, say....averted the apocolypse...and the PTB gave him his shansu - what then?

Then we'd be back to IWRY and him unable to fight anyone.

And once he became human, does that mean he's "clear"? Does it mean, he's finally been redeemed? No more would he need to fight, because his job as defender of the helpless would be over? Would he truly be a new man? Is this what it meant? That if the prophecy were fulfilled, Angel wouldn't go to Hell when he died?

I don't mean this to be a heated debate, I just didn't know what the hype is about. Anyone?

Doesn't the Shansu prophecy say that the vampire with a soul will become human after he plays a vital role in the apocolypse? Or something like that. So when he does become human (from the prophecy), there'll be nothing left (or nothing big) to fight. In IWRY, that was before the apocolypse so there was still big fights along the way...

Damn it... I hate these threads, they make me think too much.

Sorry about the over-thinking. Try rubbing temples. I hear it helps. 🙂

So what would happen after the apocolypse? Would he be a "new man"?

Yeah, he'd just be a human guy that lived for over 200 years as a vampire! ... Got confused for a while... :confused0

He'd just be another boring human but knows that there are demons an stuff. And because he stopped the SP's apocolypse, there won't be much people to fight so the slayer could handle that (if Chosen never happened in the Angelverse).

Rubbing my temples made it itchy... I'll try this --> :banghead:

What I don't get is that how he could give back being a Human in IWRY and then work so hard to get it back in S2?

averted the apocolypse...

When did he do that? Season 4? Why didn't the PTB offer him the Shanshu back then? Last I saw of Season 5, an apocalypse was raining down upon the City of Los Angeles, because Angel & Co. had decided to wipe out the Circle of the Black Thorn. And I really find it hard to believe - even from a fictional point of view - that the Circle was responsible for the never-ending apocalypses that happen on Earth. I think that humanity should take responsibility for that.

Because he had to face more than one apocalypse, along with many other things.

As for the Circle of the Black Thorn, even though they may have wielded some power, there will always be evil trying to destroy the world. You can't give them all the credit.

Because I highly doubt the Circle had anything to do with the Master opening the hellmouth or Glory trying to get home and all the events that occured on Buffy.

Because hey, the Senior Partners helped Buffy win the final fight.

So without this group, there will still be apocalypes and badness and all that stuff because we know this from the events that have and will occur on Fray.
