Overall, though, I'm not sure Buffy laughs very much in ANY of the seasons. Besides what was already mentioned, all I can think of is "Real Me" and the fake laughing at Ben's orthopedic pants joke.

Did she laugh when she was invisible? There was a load of stuff she found amusing at that stage.

In fact its stunt dubble laugh in Grave its why she is bent over the horse so she cant really be seen

And, for the record, I always thought that Giles' reaction to her confession was kind of low and unfeeling, especially given his opinion of Spike and his supposed concern for Buffy's welfare.

I think the charactor of Buffy laughed with good reason.

The slayer life is colorful one and the situations and how they seem to be grimm dark to Buffy play out in that scene. wonderfuly.

I guess you're right. I never really watched her during that moment, I always just looked at the scene as an interrim(sp?) between two Dark Willow moments..... It just poped in my head when I read the thread title.

And now I realize that this moment was mentionned in the first post... That'll teach me to read quickly...... *head meets desk*

Well, it's a type of gallow humour, I liked it. When situations get really bad, sometimes it is really helpful to just take a step back and laugh. (or just think of the phrase "when we look back on this, we'll be able to laugh about it") So I can really understand Giles. It's a way of putting things in perspektive and getting out of a negative slump.

I would be more inclined to agree if I didn't know that in actuality, neither Buffy nor Giles ever "looked back on it and laughed." In fact, it seemed to cause a major disagreement between them the following season and quite possibly destroyed a large part of their father/daughter relationship for at least the beginning of Season 8.

I disagree. I haven't read season 8, but the tension in season 7 wasn't really caused by this per se. At the point Buffy was just sleeping with Spike and nothing more (especially after he tried to rape her), there would not have been a problem on Giles' side. The tension started when Spike got his soul back and Buffy looked at him differently. Especially when she had the chip removed while Giles still thought him dangerous.
