Until that moment between her and Giles in the finale. Anybody else notice this?
Didn't she laugh at one point when Giles came back? Like they were in the back of the Magic Shop and she told him she slept with Spike and they laughed a whole lot....
Giles laughed, and, from her expression, Buffy sort of nervously joined in. I don't think that there was any real humor in the moment for her. And, for the record, I always thought that Giles' reaction to her confession was kind of low and unfeeling, especially given his opinion of Spike and his supposed concern for Buffy's welfare.

sometimes it is really helpful to just take a step back and laugh. (or just think of the phrase "when we look back on this, we'll be able to laugh about it") So I can really understand Giles. It's a way of putting things in perspective and getting out of a negative slump.
I would be more inclined to agree if I didn't know that in actuality, neither Buffy nor Giles ever "looked back on it and laughed." In fact, it seemed to cause a major disagreement between them the following season and quite possibly destroyed a large part of their father/daughter relationship for at least the beginning of Season 8.
