There are some stereotypes in movies in tv shows when it comes to couples. A jock and the cheerleader, soul who needs saving and soul who needs to save someone (...) and the popular girl who falls for unpopular boy and changes her life for him. That girl figures out how she was selfish and unfair all this time, and that her other half is the person she hated for no reason. We got Cordelia and Xander, kind of that couple, but Cordelia didn't changed. She still made fun of them, and was ashamed of them, but hanged out with them because she actually like them but didn't wanted to admit. I'm really hlad she haven't changed because I'm tired or stereotypes.

I think it was a much more realistic portrayal of that same storyline. Cordelia managed to evolve whilst staying in character. If it wasn't for Xander cheating on her I think that she would have changed even more as a person. She only became nasty and bitchy again because she had her heart broken.

Allways been my opinion
Good observation! I, too, think it was more realistic. Plus, Cordy already knew that she was mean and selfish... thing was she didn't care. And Xander didn't make her care. She was still a bitch. And I liked that. She did change a lot, but not in that obvious way. Her's was more subtle. Plus, it was refreshing most of the changes that did happen were from her own experiences and stuff, not from the guy she was with.

Well, I don't really think anything on Buffy is very stereo-typical. For example, Willow was a nerd in the begining, smart and all that. It wasn't made a big thing when she altered herself a little. She still had her little nerdy qualities but she kind of picked things up from watching other people like Buffy who were an influence in her life. It's the same with Cordelia.

She's not the type to want to change herself. She never does change herself because, shocker, she likes who she is. When she dates Xander, they love each other for who they are and because they feel like they need someone at that time and so niether feels the need to change. And besides, Xander isn't exactly a nice, nice guy. He's nice and everything and hangs out with the Scoobies but he's at Cordelia's and other peoples throats as much as Cordy is. So he wasn't really one to go and 'save her soul' was he?

Cordila always held true to who she was. She believed in herself. She was her own strength. She did change in Angel but that was not for someone else. It was because she had been delt so much in her life that she had to adapt. (IE loosing her monie and knowing about the demons).
I like that fact because in real life people don't change for other people but they can change for themself.

Cordelia was always just Cordy, and I loved her for it. No major changing, just the situations around her did, which caused her to have a different point of view about things, but still stayed the same. She is like, my favorite. I love her. 😉
