Okay. I don't know if this is the right place for this, or if the mods will attack me with a vengeance. But I've had a pretty awesome past 36 hours, and I thought y'all would appreciate it, find it fascinating, etc.
Firstly, y'all should know that I am the assistant to the Costume Designer for Comedy Central's "The Legend of Neil." This was created and directed by Sandeep Parikh of "The Guild" and Felicia Day has a role in it. That said, moving on... 🙂
Yesterday morning I woke up bright and early, jumped in the car, and headed to Glendale. There I met Jenny, the costume designer I'm working for. 🙂 We hopped in her car and headed to...
Western Costume!
One of LA's biggest costume houses, located in Burbank. It is massive. It is amazing. I wanted to spend forever there. In order to see every costume, you'd have to spend days. Imagine a huge warehouse.... racks of costumes, maybe 3 feet apart. THREE racks high. Yeah. That was this place. We briefly looked at the women's costumes, just so I could see (we weren't renting women's stuff). I wanted to go and spend a year and a day in the historical section alone. 😉 They also had a men's section and a military/police section. We didn't go to the latter. We did, however, go to the former. Lots and lots of costumes. Greco-Roman, 1930s, '40s, '50s, '60s and so on... suits and ties and stuff, zoot suits (at least 2 racks), kid clothes, medieval, capes, just... amazing. We ended up renting a couple doublets... used in "Waterworld" and "The Mummy!!" *grins*
They also had an Armour room. Helmets, armour... yeah. It was all there. And amazing. I tried on a bunch of helmets, they were all too big. 😉 But so, so cool. 😀
That was just, awesome. So we also went to Michael's, Target, Lowes, thrift stores and the 99cent store for shopping. Lunch at Sbarro, and more stuff. We then organized all the costumes, and headed off to the office where we'd be doing the costume fitting.
I got to meet Sandeep Parikh of "The Guild" and he called me a rockstar. 😉 That was just awesome. Hehe, he's kinda short... he's my height. 😉 He's really nice though, and seems pretty laidback. So then we started fitting everyone...
AND
I met Felicia Day. I helped fit Felicia Day. I shook Felicia Day's hand. 😉 It was sorta surreal, but I did NOT geek out and blush and be all stupid like that. 😉 I was very calm and everything, introduced myself... she's really sweet, and even though she's taller than me, she's incredibly tiny. 😉
So. That was yesterday. In a nutshell.
I went on to go to check the mail today, and picked up the package from Mrs. H.
Inside were photo postcards from Hamlet. With Patrick Stewart!!! And David Tennant. AND PATRICK STEWART! 😉
There was this other thing in the box. A picture envelope thing. A Torchwood one. A limited edition one. On it was Captain John. All shiny and nice. And silver writing. Silver... autographed... writing...
