Ship' arguing

Why do we argue over "who should be with who" and what ship is better than another. Why do we even having shipping preferences at all? Why can't we try to better appreciate some relationships than what we already do?

Because 'shipping is a big part of fandom. Fans resonate with different relationships for different reasons. We all have a "lens" , a specific interest, with which we view the show. For some, it's a specific relationship (in my case, Spuffy) for others, it's a theme or a character.

Also, I prefer the term "debating" over "arguing." It makes us sound much for refined and civilized, lol.

I'm a fangirl. A "'shipper", or whatever. I like the debates. They're fun, and keep the love for the show alive. I'll defend Spuffy until blue in the face, lol. Just ask anyone.

When I criticise ships, it's got nothing to do with my love for another ship, it's to do with my dislike for those ships. I might bash Bangel sometimes, but that's not because I like Cangel it's because I don't like Bangel and will say why. Just like I don't like S6 - not because I love S3 and feel the need to defend it, it's because I don't like S6. People have their opinions and will voice them. Live with it.

Ah, don't we all wish this? I like to think that most of us here are mature and can debate intelligently without insulting each other. I'll admit, sometimes I get a bit emotional about Spuffy (I love them with all my little fan girl heart) but I completely understand why others dislike the 'ship.

My most despised 'ship, Bangel, makes me queasy, but I also respect the fans of the 'ship.

Because remember; in the end, we're all fans of the same show. I think sometimes we forget that.
