I am going to say Dizzy and Johnny from Starship Troopers. They have one night together and then
she is murdered horribly by a bug the literal next day.
They are really perfect for each other and it made me upset watching the movie!
 
Re: Woroi; In all fairness, it wasn't that bad. It's just Riker/Troi and Worf/Dax were so much better, it made theirs look pointless.

Actually, USAF officers are totally allowed to fraternize and they often marry. USAF officers fraternizing with USAF enlisted is, literally, a crime.

Also not exactly.

While officers can fraternize with other officers, it DOES have to be outside the chain of command. So for them to be together one of them would have to leave the Stargate program.

Which was something they briefly acknowledged. Neither wanted to leave the program.

The problem wasn't that they were officers, but that they were in the same chain of command. had they both led DIFFERENT SG teams or had one of them been teaching at the academy or working on some other project, there would not have been a problem.

You cannot date your subordinate or your commanding officer.

Actually, that wouldn't work since Jack is the second in command of the SGC program under Hammond. So different team or not Sam is still under his chain of command.

And then he got promoted to command. Only when Jack left the programme was he outside of Sam's chain of command I think.
I believe the Dukat-Kira Ship only had three shippers, Gul Dukat, Tora Ziyal and Marc Alamo. And Ziyal was horribly misinformed.

I'm not so sure; I believe the writers had to deliberately make Gul Dukat nastier because he was proving too popular, with viewers regularly failing to grasp that Dukat was not a nice person, thanks to Marc Alamo's pretty charismatic portrayal. Which might sound familiar...

i think marc alaimo was like alan rickman as snape... no matter how nasty they play it, they have 'charisma' and it always comes through... even with the nasty greasy gitness and the reptile make-upness... some people just got 'it', whatever 'it' is!

And honestly, it is probably more true to life than the vile and ugly villain.

(1) The most successful villains don't come across as only scary because they can't win if people are ONLY scared of/or hate them. Being liked means getting followers & supporters.

(2) Most villains don't see themselves as 'villains' even if they know and choose consciously to do and be evil (and know that their choices are evil). Most people justify their actions.

We are all stars in our own show... and also, even most truly horrible, mean people... can be 'nice' when it suits them... even the really ugly ones. I think this is why most people don't believe that they're 'bad' - because even truly vile people tend to have those they care for, and most of us who 'care for' anything never see ourselves as evil, no matter what we justify.

Actually, if they'd led different teams, they would have been able to get together if neither of them had received a base wide command position. What could NOT have happened was for either to be promoted to any base-wide command position, because that would put them into the same chain of command. So, yes, when Jack became 2IC and then base commander once he got his first star, he would become ineligible to command the SGC Sam if she were his wife or partner.

It isn't clear if he could have gone to the 303 program since it's associated with the SGC, but is a separate entity.
 
Okay, so I looked into it. Dukat and Kira did have shippers, but it doesn't seem to be character or story based.

Season 4 Dukat with Season 4 Kira might have some potential, but ultimately, the Cardies weren't portrayed like Americans and Filipinos, or Americans and Vietnamese. They wanted evil spoon heads.

And in Dukat's case, he did genuinely believe he was a patriot. And is also a fine example of why believing you are a patriot does not mean you actually are one; Dukat did a huge amount of damage to Cardassia.

People generally are able to justify their actions, no matter how horrible they are. Which is why we have laws that (are supposed to) do the judging.

Kira and Dukat did have chemistry together, and chemistry can lead to shippers. Now, if Dukat had been more physically attractive, then despite how evil his actions were, this would have led to a lot more shippers. Exhibit A: Spike.
