Ships that never sailed

I would argue the winner would be Elim Garek. I don't need to elaborate his crimes. But both characters and fans seem to forget this, and somehow he's in a nearly canon ship with Julian and Ziyal. I would say, Jesus wept, but the actor was trying to get away from horror.

Laurel/Oliver in Arrow, ugh, should have been endgame!

Emma and August in OUAT and/or Emma and Neal, forever bitter about her ending up with Hook.

Cheryl and Veronica in Riverdale, I shipped them practically from Day One. At least we finally got canon Beronica!

Barry and Caitlyn in The Flash, I really disliked him and Iris and he and Caitlyn had so many cute moments!

Interestingly, in the book the series was derived from, Clarke and Bellamy ended up married. For some reason the show went a different way.

Both Siddig and Robinson are reported to have played them so much as a couple that they were told to tone it down after the first episode. Siddig apparently thought they were going to be Star Trek's first gay couple.


The fans may seem to forget this, because Robinson played Garak so well as what he was, but it was acknowledged and recognised by the characters. In "In the Pale Moonlight", Garak says this to Sisko "That's why you came to me, isn't it captain? Because you knew I could do those things that you weren't capable of doing."

In other words, Garak may be a complete magnificent b*****d, but he is theirs and they know he can be used to do what needs doing.

Having put up with the ramblings of Xander talking about his desires on Buffy, I'm glad that ship never sailed.

yeah, glad that fantasy wasn't given any chance. I think both Xander's arc and Buffy's would have been ruined by that.

The reason was the showrunner, who hated the shippers, the fanbase and one of the actors involved, and deliberately screwed the writing into the ground.

Well, that is extremely unprofessional. Both Bellamy and Clarke did have genuine chemistry together - heck the actors are now married! I do wonder, given by events in the last season, if I can guess which actor was the one who was disliked.
