What is the one single absolute accept no substitutes scariest film you have ever seen?


For me it was "The Thing," the original one with James Arness as the alien. What scared me the most was that you never really saw it, it was all left up to your imagination.

I'm sorry, I know no one thinks this is a scary movie, but the ONLY movie that has scared me for more than one scene is The Grudge. I don't know why, it's just that way lol

Movies tend not to scare me. Except when its dark and they pop into my head, but thats my own paranoia more than the movie.

One did finally scare me recently though but for the life of me I cant remember what it was

Well because I'm such a fraidy cat I avoid films that I think will have me hiding in corners..so that would be 'IT' (EVIL!!!), anything to do with Nightmare on Elm Street, The Shinning...really the list is endless!

I'd have to say Jeepers creepers. I only saw it once, maybe that's why but I found it terrifying! and a movie I believe was called Seven, people died through/by/whatever the seven deadly sins.. It was disgusting and I believe my dad thought fit to show it to me when I was 10 .. lol

Hey I never said I was proud about any of this stuff! It's not just films, there is a graveyard about two minutes from my house, like 300 years old and to this day I will only ever walk to the entrance, no further! I was told the Banshee haunts it as a child and well it stuck with me! I never realised how many of the old Irish supstitions have stuck with me!

It's Japanese. Aww, man. I can't even describe it. It's just... the needles really freaked me out. Just eww. I really can't talk about it.

Coincidentally, the OTHER scariest movie I've ever seen was also Japanese. It was In the Realm of the Senses. It wasn't really a horror film, but it was completely freaky in that I left the room going, "Oh man; I am never going to have sex again." Of course, I got over that. But I don't think a repeat viewing would be conducive to the connubial felicity of my marriage. lol.

It turns out, there really was a Soap Sally, a former slave who sold home made soap to support herself. After several years, she was cought doing almost exactly what Mama Aycock had told us: killing runaway children and making soap out of them.

Wow! There have been countless sightings of the Banshee of the centuries, now it could and probably is all be rubbish but I still won't chance it!

well when I was a kid I slept over at a freinds house and they decided to put on a Jason film. At the time it scared the living daylights out of me.

When I saw Cabin Fever it kinda made me cringe...I wasnt terrified though but I could see something like that happening so yeah yuck!

the Exorcist is pretty scary though it is one of my favorite movies...I guess mostly because I believe in the possibilty of it all (now dont you all go linching me for that either)

but the worst movie I ever saw...in my opinion was house of 1000 corpses. Because a: the bad guys dont die...b: I HATE CLOWNS and their is a dirty one in the beginning c: Rob Zombie made it to scare the hell of you and d: sickos like that DO exist!!! oh and the girls laugh is super creepy!!!!!

I don't scare easy when it comes to movies, but I agree with Buffy Summers; the first Grudge movie scares the pee out of me. Silent Hill did the first couple of times I saw it, but now I'm inured. I'm hoping for a Silent Hill 2.

It was The Warning/Alien Warning/Without Warning (1980).

Right now, I am aware of how goofy and trashy this movie was, but back then :

Not before, not after I wasn't afraid of movies that much if at all... But when i saw it - I was mere kid (like 10-12 (seen it more than once 🙂 years old) while spending my summer vacations in countryside where were lots of trees, woods, forests, and wild mountain river. Lots of open spaces and absence of light during the nights. Dark, High, Clear Southern sky... Spooky...

Also, one has to keep in mind that I grew up as post-Soviet Union Kid - we didn't get at all to watch such movies before 1990...

What else needed to scare lil-kid-with-Tim-Burton's-Vincent-like-imagination hell off ?! lol...

But it made me go crazy about horror flicks eventually.

Anybody ever sat around a camp fire out in the woods late at night and tell ghost stories. We used to toast marsh mallows and hot dogs and swap stories all night long. The only way we could get the horses caught and saddled up the next morning was because of the night long sugar high.

Well, they're your bugger bears, Miss K, not mine. I can tell you all about Big Foot, and Howlers. and the like, but all I know about goes bump in the Irish night wouldn't fill an ant's tee cup. We've got ghosts and even a few zombies, but the Irish immigrants in this area must've left their night baddies back home for you.

Have I told ghost stories around a fire? *Scoffs.* I'm a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. I can build the fire, dig the latrine, lash together the table, roast the marshmallows, send the new girls on a snipe hunt, and scare the heebie jeebies right out of you with my ghost story... then wake up and lead the nature hike!

Okay, so when I saw The Grudge I died. They had to resuscitate me and then I died again. That's my favorite movie, but it scares me to death!
