Should Buffy have amde her way out of her grave?

Should buffy have made her way to the surface, without dieing (again) from suffocation?

coffins are generally airtight... And she was 6 feet deep...
 
It always annoyed me how the scoobies had the intention of raising her from the dead and not actually digging her out first.

It must have been shocking and traumatizing for Buffy to find herself there. She didn't stay in there for a long time so yeah I think it was a little believable for Buffy to come out of there, being a slayer and all helps.

Well, to be fair didn't the Scooby's think that the ritual had failed? I guess that's why thet abandoned the grave.

Still, Xander should've at least had a shovel handy, he's dug up coffins before afterall. 🙂 ('Some Assembly Required')

I think Buffy dug herself out on her own because she's the Slayer, enhanced and all that. It's almost impossible for a normal human to dig themselves out without suffocating.

''hurry we must dig Buffy out!'' lol you could have dug her out first. From my perspective I feel it's important to put the intention or else prepare for it to actually work.
But hey... it's season 6! Sh*t happens haha 😀
 
Ya, I'm assuming that it was because of slayer strength. And with Spike recognizing the marks on her hand, we can assume that it's just as shitty when vampires do it. Now the real question is why do we always see vampire rise with no bloody hands.

I guess Sunnydale just sucks at burying their dead. It's like they want them to escape.
 
Are coffins air tight? That seems redundant.

I got the impression that in their rush to do the spell the scoobies hadn't researched enough and were under the impression that Buffy would appear in front of them rather than being reanimated in her coffin.

They hadn't anticipated that she'd be six feet under.

I think some tv show did tests on a person getting out of the grave, because of the weight of the earth it would have been impossible. Plus as soon as a hole was made in the coffin the dry earth would have dropped into the hole. When you saw Buffy just after she had risen she was a bit dirty but she wasn't muddy so I'm guessing it hadn't rained on the grave in 148 days, you'd have thought the green grass would've been brown by then.
Now I'm guessing that she tried to get out of the coffin as soon as she was given her life back, so the air factor in the coffin doesn't enter into it. Although Buffy would have had an alterior motive, it would have stunk like bloody crazy in there. Escaping bodily aromas and all that.
And the scoobs must have known she'd be six foot under, you'd have thought they'd have gone to the funeral.

Oh yeah totally the only explanation for Buffy being able to get out is her slayerness. I just thought it was odd that coffins are air tight, presumably it takes way more work to make a coffin air tight, when there would be no need.

They would have been at the funeral, but when Willow realises she crawled out of the grave, the way she said it it's clear she hadn't thought she'd be in the grave.
They were doing a spell, they obviously should have research more (for a lot of reasons), but you could understand that they thought she'd be returned to them magically, it could have been on top of her grave.
They presumed she'd be brought back above the earth, just like they presumed she was in hell and the rest of the gang presumed the spell wasn't as dangerous as it was and didn't know about stuff like Willows little adventure as Willow the Bambi Slayer.

Talking of Willow the Bambi Slayer, you must have realized that my comment would be Oh Deer. Or in the words of the immortal Homer Simpson, Doe! (doh).

Maybe the makers of coffins should advertise the air tight coffins as Vampire friendly.
