I've never seen Season 5 of Angel. I got really disgusted around the 4th or 5th episode into Season 4 and stopped watching. Since then I have watched the rest of Season 4 and still am not sold on the fact that I should watch the rest of the series out of respect to the show. I was a big fan of the show up until Connelia, but then when I did watch the rest of Season 4 I hated the Jasmine storyline and I'm told that it only gets worse.
So should I watch it? Was it a really bad season, as I've heard so many fans say? Or is it worth watching?

A lot of people tend to really love season five. I personally find it to be my least favorite season of Angel (probably my least favorite season of Angel & Buffy, actually) but that opinion doesn't seem to be shared by many. Even I find it to have some redeeming qualities though, so give it a shot if you're feeling adventurous.
 
I love S5. It's actually my favorite of the Angel seasons. The rest of them were too dark and convoluted for my taste, but this one almost made up for it, even for the redonkulous mid-late S4.
 
So S5 is not like the rest of the series??? I really loved the darkness of the previous seasons of Angel. 🙁
 
So, season five is pretty far removed from every other season of Angel. I've heard people say it's more like Buffy, but I guess I really disagree with that. I think they just say that because of Spike and Harmony.

I love S5 of Angel. You should watch it. At least so you can see how it ends. There are some mighty entertaining episodes. I think a lot of fans don't like S5 because of all the stand-alone episodes, but if that doesn't bother you, go for it. You'll love it.

And don't worry. There's no more Jasmine or gross Conner/Cordelia action 🙂 S5 is totally based on an entirely different plot.

Like Buffy? Nah. That only say that because in theory, it's funnier then the rest of the show. Don't get me wrong, Angel's got it's bits of dark humor, but it's nothing compared to the humor of Buffy. Angel is a totally different show, and to be honest, it somewhat irritates me when people compare it to Buffy.
 
Well my brother gave me the Season, but I wasn't really interested in watching it... I put it away somewhere and thought about watching it today but I really don't know where it is now. LOL Now I just want to know if it's worth to effort to try to find it. 😉

You know, his picture is up with the rest of the cast with the logo season five next to this subsection of the board, so I think there may already be a clue or two on the Buffy Boards that Spike is involved in Angel season five!

Eh, I already knew he came back... My husband told me about it when he saw him on TV Guide with DB back in the day. LOL
 
Definately watch it, seasons 4 and 5 are my favourite, s4 becasue it was so dark and epic, and s5 because there were many funny moments and just had fantastic episodes once it hit its stride.
 
i know, i found season 4 a bit of ashock at first, but trust me, its just as good /😀
 
You should definatly watch it. I think after the first 2 seasons of the show which were great it starts to go downhill for s3 and 4, but it gets good again in s5.
 
You definitely should watch it! Like you, I hated most of season 4 (the only episodes I liked were Spin the Bottle and the episodes from Soulless to Orpheus), but LOVED season 5. It's my favorite season by a long shot.

Still, what I've noticed is that people who prefer Buffy love season 5 while people who prefer Angel (and hardcore Cordelia fans) hate it. And I can sort of see why...unlike Revolver, I do think that it's much more Buffy-esque than the seasons before it. It still has that dark feeling (although it is less prominent than it was in seasons 1-4), but it's less pretentious than the seasons before it, incorporates more humor, and follows Buffy's "epic main storyline with some standalones thrown in" formula.
 
I like S4 a lot (loved it on first watching, it very significantly loses impact 2nd time around, though) and was disappointed at S5 (but the Angel/Spike dynamic alone does make it worth watching!) - and with either opinion, I'm in the minority here. I can just say, if you're boycotting either season, you do miss out on good, entertaining TV, even if for both seasons it can be argued (and, in fact, has been so on this board) that they don't hold up to the quality we're used to from other Buffyverse seasons.
 
you should def watch it, its probably my favourite season out of all 5🙂
 
Ok, ok, I'm gonna dig it out and watch it. It may take me a while to find it, though, 'cause I have no idea where the hell I put it. LMAO
