Should I Quit?

Like a lot of people here, I too took a break for a while--I hadn't been involved in the "fandom" for many years before signing up here, but Buffy was still important to me. As others have said, maybe step away for a while, and you'll find that the Buffy bug will bite you again! Whether that means becoming involved in discussions again or simply watching episodes all the time, it might find its way back to you.
For years I didn't talk to anyone about Buffy. But I always carried it around in my heart, and that was good enough.

Like others have said, I think you should take a break. I had this issue with Taylor Swift stuff (being involved in online fandom... not being a fan) and I took a break. When I came back, I enjoyed it a lot more. Of course, I came back to clean up the mess of the thing that made me leave... but the break was what I needed.

Honestly, I've noticed you were posting less lately. I always love reading your posts(yes!) and you would be missed, but if you feel like you're not as interested anymore, take a break. Maybe you'll get the spark again down the road(I hope!). 😉

I've taken breaks a few times from the Buffy Boards (which is pretty much the only form of fandom I take part in). Once was simply to see if I could do it. My boyfriend really wanted to see if I could do it, and see how my life would change. I gave it up for 3 months and was desperate to get back and see what I had missed!

The second time I think it was for around 6-9 months and I chose to. Summer time had kicked in here in Australia and I wanted to spend more time enjoying the beautiful weather and concentrate on my job. Once I came back to Buffy Boards I realised I was hugely enjoying it again.

It sounds like you need to take a break - being a fan and being on a forum shouldn't be a hassle. It should be something that you love. Take a break. Set yourself a month to not log on at all. See how it goes.

I think you maybe just need a break. If you just quit Buffy right now for a few years, then all it takes is you catch a episode one day and you remember how good a show it was you'd be right back into it.

I'm sort of in a similar situation Kana. 🙂 For me, there's a lot of things going on in my life now where I've not been as active with the fandom as I was a few months ago. Yet, I still remain a fan and know I always will be one (even though I'm relatively new to the fandom). The show impacted and inspired me in ways that's hard to explain. That will never change, even if I'm not as involved in the fandom as I was before.

I think like others have said, I would take a break from the fandom. Don't quit it all together because you never know when you might get that urge to just talk about something Buffy-related. 🙂

I noticed you haven't been around much. Too bad! I always enjoy battles with you :)
Don't use the word quit. Take a break, rest or whatever. Maybe you'll come back, maybe you don't. It's not decided by logic but feelings. If you want to come back you will whenever it happens. No use staying "just because".

I've taken many breaks from Btvs and Ats but so far always come back. Right now I'm on a break. It's closing in to two years since I watched an episode. Time flies. As for fandom this board is the only way I've taken part. That I've stayed got nothing to do with Btvs or Ats but the board itself and it's members. Not what the board was made for but that's how it is to me. But then again, there's Firefly, Dollhouse and Dr Horrible's sing-along blog. 😀

Thanks for all your responses. I think I agree that I was being somewhat black and white about the whole thing. I thinking quitting is a little dramatic, lol. Interestingly enough I've got a few thread ideas and we'll see how much steam that gives me.

Kana's not turning his back on the Verse just yet!!!
