Should I watch the Buffy movie?

I saw parts of it, ages ago, before I started watching the show. Over the years I've found myself asking the same question, haha!
Ultimately, I know I'd be so freaking frustrated the whole time and probably a little angry too at the thought of someone watching the movie only and assuming that the TV show was awful as well! (Guess I really care too much what others think, and I'm very protective of the show. 🙂 )
So for now, I'm sticking with no!

It really depends on how you view the word 'completion'. The movie itself is pretty bad, but then again its supposed to be funny...they kinda failed at it.

I've watched it and yes I think you should as well. Simply to know what people are talking about while talking about it. Not everyone think it's bad but since you're already a fan as [MENTION=11797]ashleigh[/MENTION] said it won't spoil the show for you in any way. You're prepared that it's bad so if you end up thinking that it won't change anything.

Yeah, watch it, if for no reason but to see what Joss' brain child turned into without him to guide it. Plus, Peewee Herman's death scene alone is worth the price of the movie rental.

I quite like the movie. It's flaws and issues are well documented, but if ou view it as the first draft of an idea, it's not bad. There are definite tell-tale signs of Joss in there and that is always a reason to watc! Plus, it's the last known public sighting of Luke Perry, so that has to be worth something 😀

You should see it. It's pretty funny when you see where Buffy started out and what it could have been. It helps you appreciate the show more!

I think you should watch it, it's not great. I won't lie, but it's worth the watch just because it's buffy. The vampires really annoy me in the movie and their nothing like they are in the tv show, in fact a lot of it isn't but it still fits a little with the T.V show story arc. If you havent already read the buffy comic The Origin then I would recommend it, but watch the movie first.
I don't think Kirsty Swanson was a bad buffy, I quite liked her potrayal of the character.

I enjoy the movie, but I have a sincere love for cheesy 80's movies. I say watch it. Even if you can't appreciate the valley speak, the rolled jeans, and the big hair.

Yeah, from what I've heard about the movie it seems like if the TV show embodied everything awesome about the 90's, the movie embodied all of its flaws and embarrassing aspects.

I watched the film, and yes I thought it was crap. But will you?
I thought the film Vampires Suck was really crap, of the 300 or so DVD's I have the worst by far is The Blair Witch Project. The sounds effects are a joke, at one point the girl is using the camera saying who is on the trip with her and she shows herself sat with the two guys, and the 'F' word is said 73 times. Thing is, I still want to have a copy of the film. But you might like that film.
So should you get the Buffy movie? Yeah, why not. I wouldn't recommend paying too much for it though.
If you take a harsh look at the series, it has many faults. Bad acting abounds, some pathetic attempts at doing sound effects, times when the continuity fails. Yet you still like it, so could you like the film even though it has several flaws?
Should a thread start where a comparison between Kristy Swanson and Sarah Michelle-Gellar is asked, if you have the film you can contribute.
And after all has been said and done, I'd recommend that you get the film.
