Should the opening credits have changed for the last seven to five episodes?

Hey all, I just did a re-watch of season 7 the other day and when I got Dirty Girls, I had this thought "I really wish they plussed the opening credits to go with the cast shake up over the season." Think about it. By the time we got to Dirty Girls, Andrew had been a fixture of the cast since Conversations with Dead People and for a lot of us the highlight of the season. Robin Wood had been revealed as son of a slayer and pretty much appeared in ever other episode from that point. Kennedy was prominent in every episode from her first appearance and had a pretty big role despite viewers hating her (I personally liked her) and from Dirty Girls on Faith was a big part of the season. And Giles was in seventy five percent of the season anyways.

So since the show was ending and there wouldn't be much need for raises, would you have liked if they would have updated the cast a little bit with some or all of these characters? At the very least, I would have liked to see Giles and Andrew thrown in there... and Kennedy but just because she was in every episode anyways. They did this with Mercedes towards the end of Ats and it was a treat for use fans. They also updated Amy Ackers portion of the credits. I can't see why they couldn't do it with BTVS either.

I agree that it would have been nice to have had Giles and Faith in the credits. For a character that was a big part of the show during the previous seasons before he left, I would think that his re-appearance would garner him a couple of seconds in the intro. I like the idea of Faith being added too. Was she ever in the intro? I don't seem to remember. Doesn't seem likely. I really liked the intros in the earlier seasons, but grew to dislike them for one reason or another after the 4th season.

Don't you have to be contracted as a regular to be in the opening credits? (I think that means you get more pay but I might be wrong). Cause if so then it would be costly to throw a bunch of new people into the opening credits.
And either way, changing the credits would have been a cost I think was better spent on making the final episodes good.

Eliza was in the opening credits for Season 3, I think.

While I think they were there enough to be in the credits, I don't think it would have been necessary.

Mercedes being added to the credits was a respect thing, as she'd been with Buffy since the pilot.

She had a shot or two in the credits but I don't remember her actually being credited. lol
I do not see the point of having Giles and Faith in the opening credits, when they were not regular characters that season.

I think Giles deserved to be back in the credits and maybe Andrew. Faith was only in five episodes of season seven. I don't think that would be enough to qualify her as a regular.

But Faith was such an important character in the whole show, she impacted a lot of storylines in Buffy she deserved a credit at some point!! lol

Atleast Giles.....i wouldn't mind Faith but understand why not...about Andrew and Kennedy i'm gonna say hell no not to disrespect them but what are we gonna just let anybody in the credits

I don't understand why Emma was even in the Season 7 credits when she was missing from so many episodes.

Now that I think about it... Nick, James, David, Charisma and Emma have all missed Buffy appearances.

But they weren't ANYBODY. Love em or hate em, they were in the majority of the episodes in season 7, moreso than Giles or Faith. I think alot of people's answers here are being based on character bias rather than what actually makes sense. I originally suggested Giles and Faith because they were huge characters and did deserve that spot (like Mercedes in season 7), BUT I also think that for the fact that they were part of the group since their appearances in early season 7, Kennedy and Andrew should be in there. It's like the season 4 credits. But then there is the Tara factor... she didn't get a credit until she died.

Tara didnt get a credit till she died, I would happily have watched a Kennedy credit if it meant she was killed off to lol But they didnt kill her so I would have gone crazy if she got a credit haha!

I haven't posted in this thread before, but no, I don't think everyone else is basing their statements on character bias. Number of appearances doesn't equal characters' star status. Gunther appeared in almost every episode of Friends, Sgt. Walter Harriman probably has appeared in more episodes of Stargate SG-1 than any character except for Teal'c, and the list goes on of people with ultra-high appearance frequency and no credit in the intro.

I agree with the sentiment that if characters were to be added to the credits in the second half, Giles would make the most sense, followed by Faith. Andrew would be a distant third, and I doubt Kennedy or Robin would even be considered. It has to do with how big a part they actually play in the episodes, not how often they're seen.

Yeah but I based it off characters that make it the show what it is not just time in each episode...people who watch only once in awhile will remember somebody like Giles over Kennedy...mahbe if she was there next season she could of made cut like Oz...Tara is the one who should of got recognition over Kennedy, Andrew
