Shoutbox or IRC Chat

The staff thought we'd ask for some feedback on the shoutbox vs IRC chat room choice.

At the moment we have both, but personally I think it makes sense for us to choose one and go with it. People had asked for the shoutbox, which is why we put it up, but I don't know if that's the majority or what.

I'm going to put up a poll, but people feel free to give input if you disagree that we should have only one.

As someone who goes in the chat most days, I'm saying stick witht he shoutbox, the chat never gets used now, I can be in there all day and not see anyone. It's a shame to lose it but people just aren't using it like they used to

I go for the box also. I don't like the chatroom much because it's not on the main site, so I end up never using it.

The shoutbox can essentially be used to chat anyhow, but it includes the whole board and all the members at any time. It's just more practical in my opinion.

...now I just have to remember about the box haha

Would a tab in toolbar that would take you to a page with the shoutbox on it be helpful or no?

I like the shout box better. I don't have much time for the chat room most days but it's nice to be able to have the shout box so if I want to chat I can do it quickly without leaving the board.

I'm in the same boat as nightshade. It's rare for anyone other than us two to be in the chat most days. Granted, I never remember to check the shoutbox, either, so I should get on that!
