The first vampire I can remember reading about is Angela Sommer-Bodenburg's "Rydiger":

I watched the TV series "Der Kleine Vampir" ("The Little Vampire") which was based on the books by Sommer-Bodenburg when I was pretty young so Rüdiger and Anna were probably my first vampires.

Mona.

She was a kickass vamp. 😛 Or Count Duckula...if he counts?

The greatest vampire ever to suck blood. The man who could send a chill up your spine with just the simple statement, "I never drink...wine." Mr Bela Lugosi.

Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die.
It's fun to be a vampire!

This was my first vampire film that truely took my interest, after that I just got sucked (haha) in my them all 🙂 And Sco, yes i'm waiting for your comments lol!

whut?!?! It's far to easy to pick about that movie, if you really want to know all the ways it is CRAPTASTIC I can tell you.. seriously. After Dark had balls at least but all you little girly fans made Lost Boys more popular than a real Vampflick!
GRR.. I got all flustered by your calling me out! it's Near Dark not After.. after dark was the softcore porn I grew up with.. FURTHERMORE!!! How can you be MY age and THAT the first real vampire movie? OH MY WORD.. that just sunk in.. you are SERIOUSLY losing points today sweety...

Dracula. I don't know which version he was. He's the one with V shape of hair on his forehead.

When I was young I thought Dracula and Vampire have the same meaning. I randomly called other vamps Dracula. 😛

The first was probably The Count from Sesame Street, but I remember being read these books when I was at primary school. Loved them.

Same. I guess because back in 'our' days there weren't all these fancy kid's TV channels they have these days, we still all watched more or less the same shows!

And of course the Count, but honestly, that's so long ago, I don't have any recollections of it.

Definitely The Count for me too (or "Graf Zahl", as he's called in the German version of Sesame Street). I kinda never realized he was a vampire though, until my mum pointed it out to me! ^^

As for "real" vampires, I'm not sure if I saw one of the Christopher Lee Dracula ones first or "Dance of the Vampires (aka The Fearless Vampire Killers)". I watched both at a pretty young age first, somewhere 6-ish I think.
