Show us your quirks!

My good quirk is that I have to check tests or papers over at least 5 or 6 times if I have time before I can turn it in. That has proved very helpful.

Some of my others are weird.

I can't have any trash visible at the dinner table. At restaurants when I take the straw out of the wrapper I get up, go to the bathroom, and throw the wrapper away. And if someone puts a dirty napkin onto the table, I close my eyes and ask them to move it somewhere that I can't see if they won't throw it away.

I cannot listen to radio commercials. When I'm in someone else's car and they don't change the channel on a commercial, I start shaking. My parents mess with me by turning it up when I ask them to change the channel, and it is not funny! When I'm driving myself, if there is no music on I just turn the radio off. Listening to nothing is better than commercials.

I have to charge my laptop and my phone when I'm sleeping.

My laptop has to be near me.

TV is has to be on mute when I'm asleep (when I was little it had to be up all the way)

I need sweets in the mourning. Or when I wake up (my older brother has that problem too)

Baby animals or animals relax me before I go to bed.

When I buy a toy that is animal it has to have a name.

And I need to check everything (social media) in the mourning.

I bite my nails.

I pick my nails and my toes.

I bite my lip when I someone good looking. (like a celebrity)

The kettle needs to have water in before I go to bed - so I can turn it straight on the morning without having to fill it.

I count on the toilet (although this is due to having people supervise me on the loo since I was 18, so more of a coping thing to get the flow to umm... flow. )

I cannot sleep with dirty feet or teeth

I cant notice a chin hair and NOT pluck it.

I MUST go outside in the sun every single morning or my body doesnt know its wake up time and I stumble around in a haze all day (I'd not survive in places with no real sun! I am in awe of those who live like this)

Well, as someone diagnosed with actual OCD, my list would go on forever,

Me too! The majority of people I meet do not understand it. They do judge it as a personality quirk rather than realising the graphic intrusive thoughts and distress that come along with not completing the task correctly.

- I have a very particular way of washing my hands and if I zone out and don't do it...yeah, not good.

Me too! Maybe we should start a #metoo movement for this 😛 I was not aware how much this impacted on my life, and no one else did either, except the ex because we lived together and I used to get mad at him for not washing his hands enough! Even when I was cooking, I couldnt touch different ingredients without washing my hands in between, I couldnt touch a sharp knife without getting horrid intrusive thoughts of me using this for SI, food had to be stored exactly correctly or I wouldnt use it and I was very strict with use by dates. Even the washing machine needed to be packed in a certain way or I'd go into a catastrophe cycle of flooding the house and causing my family to die 🙄. I used hand sanitizer heaps too and expensive cleaning products that claimed 99.9% bacteria killing. I am so glad to be free of that now - it was bloody expensive! Now I make my own soaps (shout out to Hydra!Coulson) and havent killed my family or been seriously injured yet.

When there's three cigarette butts in the ashtray, I dump them in the toilet, clean the ashtray, then resume smoking. 😛

Being a self-professed chain smoker, I'm guessing you get up to do that a lot in one day :D
Shopping. Good lord, I have become so unstoppable about shopping. I see something, that I want to buy, like a cute outfit or a lip gloss or a new skincare product, and I just HAVE TO HAVE it! I somehow manage to keep myself disciplined by saying "You know this is here, come back a month later to see if you still want it." That's how I manage to restrain myself when I'm out shopping. It's the same with buying books, or decor items.

That's my other obsession. Everything has to look beautiful for the most part. It's funny because I'm actually quite messy. But I've become addicted to sorting, organising, filing, keeping clothes carefully stacked and perfumed. Obsessed with designing interior spaces and making sure every colour compliments every other colour, and nothing is too busy. And I've developed this weird habit of dabbing a teeny bit of perfume into my study books. It seems to make me remember the chapters better.

And I journal a lot. Maybe that's one of my habits that is, by comparison, less weird.
