What are some shows that you think were cancelled before their time? Here's some of the ones I think could have lasted longer

Dollhouse-pretty much explained this in details in other threads
AtS-I do think this show should have ended at s6, AtF would have been an excellent TV adaptation
Freaks and Geeks-just look at the cast, how this was cancelled is beyond me
Lip Service-s1 was pretty bad, s2 picked it up but it was too late I guess

Had forgotten about Tru Calling. And they ended it on such a cliffhanger!
Skanky Vamp

totally forgot about Stingray. I might have to add Wiseguy to the list to make up for Stingray.

Longmire is coming back for season 4 on Netflix
I agree, Freaks and Geeks should have aired longer. What a crummy finale it had, which actually ended as if another season would have followed.

I haven't seen most of those shows. But I agree with some of them.
Angel should have a sixth season 🙁
Dollhouse, yes
Tru Calling, yes, I was so upset when I went to watch the show and it just ended. ugh!
Freaks and Geeks, great cast! I don't know why it got canceled either
Firefly, even though I'm not a huge fan, I think there was a lot to explore there. At least we got Serenity
Also I really liked SMG's shows Ringer and the Crazy Ones. TCO doesn't need more seasons but I think Ringer would have been good.

How about a list of shows that should have been canceled sooner. Some shows went on for far too long.

Some you guys have already mentioned I agree with. Also, for me, I regret that Joan of Arcadia got cut short. I really enjoyed that show.

Looking at this list just reminds me how lucky we are now to have things like video tape, video discs, and the internet, where just about ant episode of any modern show or movie is literally at the tips of our fingers, whenever we want to watch them. So many of the old shows are now either locked away in some vault somewhere, inaccessible to the general public, or are lost altogether. I know that sounds like an old man bewailing his "good ol' days," but, then I AM an old man, and those WERE good ol' days to me. Anyhow, some things actually have gotten better, and home entertainment is one of them.

In no particular order.

Firefly - The most obvious one.
Eureka - Great show that even if they did 5 seasons I would've loved more.
Dollhouse - Especially after our recent re-watch have I realised that I want more.
Stargate Universe - Many complained about Universe. Sure it wasn't as great SG1 or Atlantis but I liked it.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - Another great Aaron Sorkin show that unfortunately didn't made it past the first season.
Veronica Mars - Not sure where they would take this past High School but I'm sure it could've been great.

There are a lot more that I would have loved to see more of but I'm okay with them ending though.

I think so too, I think it could have been great. The Veronica Mars movie was nice, much like it was nice to get a movie wrap up to Firefly, but where Serenity was very satisfying I kind of felt like the VM movie wasn't... mostly cause I feel like VM worked better as a show, and it's a shame that they didn't at least get to try for a season 4. 🙂

See, I think Roswell had the perfect ending, because it dealt with the 'what do you do after high school' problem, and it pretty much finished everyone's storylines. I don't like the idea of following them all around the country, following Liz's visions. Maybe it's because it's ten plus years later and there's Supernatural now, I don't know.

LEVERAGE! I cannot stress enough how much I hated the fact that that show was ended. All the cast were so psyched for another season, especially given what kind of show they could have had, considering the S5 finale. We were at a convention with Christian Kane and Timothy Hutton about three weeks before the network made the announcement that the S5 finale (which was due to air on Christmas Day) would be the series finale, and they were both so desperately hoping that they were brought back, they were so in love with these characters that they didn't want to let them go.

I wanted to see Eliot, Hardison and Parker going solo with the list they stole. I wanted to see Nate and Sophie being all happy and in love and travelling and helping random people and finally getting their happy ending. And I wouldn't give up Crowley for the world, but it would have been nice for Sterling to keep being the thorn in Nate's side. They had such a unique set up for S6, it would have been so interesting to see if they could pull it off.

Next would be Firefly, because there's some things from the show that aren't picked up in the movie, most notably, Inara and her little vial of poison. Not that I'm saying that I would have wanted to see her gang raped by a bunch of reavers, because I don't, not at all, but I did want to see why she thought she needed to keep that vial on hand, if something happened to her in the past that made her seek out protection and revenge like that.

Torchwood is another, though I don't actually know if they'll never go back to this, though the cast (John Barrowman especially) seem locked into other projects. I want to see Rex deal with the fact that he's like Jack now.

I like Roswell's ending too, but I was sad to see it go. I still wanted Liz, Max, Michael, Maria and co. on my screen every week! :)

I used to watch Everwood every week in high school? Middle school? idk. I was surprised I like The New Adventure of Old Christine.
The ones that leap to mind are Millenium and Harsh Realm (both by X-files creator Chris Carter) as well as The Lone Gunman (spin-off of the X-files). Millenium hit its stride the season it got cancelled, and Harsh Realm and The Lone Gunman didn't get the chance they deserved (and ratings were not good enough). I saw them all and liked them all. I like Chris Carter a lot.

Veronica Mars: I liked a lot of S3 and I think this show worked outside of high school because it was all still based in Neptune. I liked the darker vision of the town we got in the movies.
Firefly: Obviously. I would've prefered a full season (or 6) instead of what we got plus the movie.
Dollhouse: Should've gotten 5 seasons so Eliza/Joss could've told the story they wanted to
Lie To Me: I just like Tim Roth. A lot.
Journeyman: Interesting take on time-travel that was just getting good when it was cancelled.
Farscape: I just needed I more damn season to complete its story. You could actually see it building up through the seasons....I hate Sci-Fi. Sorry, SyFy🙄
Angel: I would've liked a S6 and we would've had it (poosibly with some Buffy cast crossovers) if Joss hadn't opened his big mouth.
The Crazy Ones: I for one thought Sarah and Robin had great chemistry together. Sarah is a great comic actress (I like her a lot more smiley rather than pouty...) And it was one of the more likeable David E. Kelley shows that I 've seen since Boston Legal.

We need a thread for shows that have gone on too damn long. That would be a long list...

I thought the exact same thing.

I love SMG doing comedy! Yes some shows go on for too long. Although I feel Supernatural is redeeming itself this season. I did not like the last 4
Tru Calling, don't think that I will ever get over it ending way too soon (and with a huge cliffhanger) 🙁.

Disagree about Angel, it should've gone seven seasons
ATS
Tru calling
Caprica

Deadwood
Carnivale
John from Cincinnati
Jericho
Luck

Carnivale YES OMG
I was going to say that I didn't think Angel should have gone longer but now that I think about it, it totally should have. I think there should have been a proper confrontation with the Senior Partners (even though the Wolf Ram & Hart kind of pop up in the comics)
