Shows that should be rebooted

What if the show Buffy The Vampire Slayer had been called The Vampire Slayer? A new vampire slayer could be featured, a bit like the format of the beginnings of Dr Who. Every three weeks would bring about a new episode then a new slayer could be brought in every few months or so. And we'd have plenty to talk about. Not sure how the fan fiction would cope. But we'd get new directions, a bit like the series Angel but for vampire slayers.
Plus there would be no comics, yipee!
 
Okay, so, you want a parody of Blade that's an anthology series that's basically the American Girl Dolls fight vampires?

Here's my problem with this type of show. I think the scenario is great, but I assume the reason you are going out and buying the rights to Buffy is because you think Buffy has some value as IP, not to make a element of the backstory into a series that doesn't have Buffy in it. If this was 2003, yeah, great idea, make it. But making a spin off of a series with limited cultural cache?

I mean, when they revived Doctor Who, they made a show about Adventures in Time & Space, they didn't skip directly to "Dr. Who's Gay Friend fights Aliens in Wales," or "Sarah Jane & K9." When they revived Trek in the 10s, they made Discovery, which was supposed to be a parasitic remora on the body of Trek work, not an expansion of existing continuity. You can experiment with spin offs, you can't with soft reboots. So, I do like the idea, I just don't think it's the best route to introduce the series to new audiences.
 
I agree that Dark Angel would be a fun reboot, there was a lot more to explore and perhaps, in a reboot, the silly snake-cult would be eliminated. Or we'd at least get to the origins and origin person of the whole experimental initiative, "Father" as Joshua says.
 
I also like the Dark Angel pick...AS LONG AS they pretend season 2 (when they got new writers anyway) didn't happen, basically redoing season 1 and then going a different direction from there.

Seasons 1 and 2 are so different that I can't remember anything clearly about the story or even characters. But I WANTED to love it, and I know I could've if handled differently. (Though as always there were things to overlook, but typically things I expected anyway.)

Season 2 of Dark Angel is, another, demonstration of why a massive change in tone in a series is not a good idea, and is a great way of killing off a series.
