This thread sort of inspired by the tv shows you abandon thread.

What shows do you continue to watch after the show jumps the shark?

When show just isn't as good as it use to be or etc. But you can't stop watching because you've been a fan of the show for a while.

I was like this with Charmed, I think. Some lines and stuff in last two seasons were just 'jumping the shark'. It became even more cheesy. But I continued watching anyway.

I watched Veronica Mars season 3 even though it wasn't as great as seasons 1 and 2. And had it been picked up for season 4, I'd have watched that too. I watched the trailer (and it looked great to me).

I got back on Degrassi because a friend of mine is so in love with it, and now I watch it even though it's no where NEAR what it was before.

House went majorly downhill (won't say jumped the shark quite yet, but they did go downhill) but I still watch it.

And I guess I'd add Glee in this category too. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I read about it, the more I hear about it, the more I reflect, the show sucks now. Just plain straight up sucks. But I know come September, I'll watch season 3 episode 1 and be "excited" to see it. The first half of season 1 of this show was just SO GOOD that I keep holding out hope that it will return to it's former glory at some point... even though I know it probably won't.
 
Every show I've ever watched?

I can't think of a single long running show I watched that hasn't jumped.
 
One Tree Hill. I loved first 4 seasons, but then, the show started to slightly suck, especially when Lucas left. I don't see why we need another season, but I'm glad we got it, because I can't imagine my life without OTH. 😛

House. I wanted to quit the show when Cameron left because she was my favourite character, but kept on going.

Heroes. I hated the last season but still continued to watch it.

I find OTH kinda weird. Post S4 I found watching the episodes as they are aired absolutely torturous. It was because of this that I lost the series for a few seasons. But in the last few months I have rewatched the boxsets and I must say those "crap" seasons are a 100 times more enjoyable.
 
I've actually dumped watching several shows I had followed when they got too idiotic. (One of those - Xena - I now got complete on DVD though... and planning to sync it someday with Shempy, including the eps I never got around to watching back then.)

The only show I did keep watching till the end even though it had really degenerated by then was Heroes.

I've always been sucker for HS drama, so I guess that's the reason why I love first 4 seasons more. Also, I'm a Brucas shipper, so I guess that was happy time for me 😀
 
Lol, Charmed. Continuing to watch it after like what... season 6 I think... yeah I have no excuse for that. Mostly me and my sis just sat and marveled at how it kept getting worse. 🙂

There are others Im sure.. I just can't bring them to mind right now.
 
The Office. It is no where near as funny as it was the first couple seasons but I can't stop watching it. I can't help it, I am in love with Jim Halpert! 😀
 
Veronica Mars Season 3 - Parts of it felt like a completely different show than Seasons 1 and 2. It's a shame too, because it had so much potential when she went off to college. There were a few stand-out episodes, but I missed that overall season arc from the first two seasons. And Dean O'Dell really bugged me, so I wasn't interested in his storylines at all.

I watched The O.C. right up until the end, even though it went downhill pretty consistently from Season 1. The episodes without Marissa were just horrible.

I also watched Brothers and Sisters up until the end, even thought they started to recycle storylines with a different character every season. But my love of Sally Field and Calista Flockhart kept me watching.

And Ally McBeal. I pretty much sat through it hoping that Portia de Rossi would get some screentime at some point.

I liked that Brothers and Sisters recycled storylines... those storylines felt like home to me
Friends - It got a little dull in the newer seasons, but I still watched them.

Dawson's Creek - After they all went to college and stuff, it was a little dull, but I still continue to watch it.

Ghost Whisperer - I'm only on S2, but I didn't really enjoy this season, but I'm still going to continue it.

Gilmore Girls - The newer ones started to become dull but I still plan on continuing it.

I own the complete series of Gilmore Girls and Dawson's Creek, and haven't managed to get to the end. Haven't given up yet, though. :)

I know what you mean about The O.C.. the only good thing in newer seasons were Seth and Summer, and yes, show sucked a big time without Marissa. I watched season 4 only because I watched it from the beginning.

And Ally.. I would never say show actually sucked, but it was better in the older seasons.. from the point Billy died, I was living for his ghost appearing to her.. such cute scenes.

I hate season 5 with all my heart, and this is coming from a girl who's rewatching it for about 5th time this summer. I've been obsessing with the show, and I forgot how awesome it is. But season 5.. my God.. all that Joey/Dawson crap all over again.. and first half of season 6 probably sucked big time too.. but I have to say that Clean and Sober is one of funniest episodes in the show. And the ending.. ah, I love the ending.

I couldn't even finish season 5 of DC, I had to skip right to Clean and Sober. Drunk Joey makes me laugh. And of course, Pacey <3
I feel like House finally has. I don't wanna spoil anything but after the past season finale, I feel like the writers have absolutely wrote themselves into a corner. I'll keep watching though, as this is most likely the last season.
 
In a way, How I Met Your Mother.
I'm not saying it isn't good anymore, but it clearly has changed. I like the old episodes better, especially season 1.
The whole series is awesome, in my opinion, but today's episodes just don't give me the feeling that the early episodes used to give me.
But I've to say that Season 6 and especially its later episodes and the finale are really, really good.

Well, that's only my opinion. The show's doing really great and it's very successful, so you can't really say it "jumped the shark" or something.

dear god....the last season was horrible.... but, alyssa milano and holly marie combs were the ONLY reason..... so bad I cant even rewatch it

season 8 was indeed an epic fail. :D still, I love the previous ones.

I have a feeling that this season may get back to the House that we all know in love. Then again, I am a House addict and I will continue to watch it until it ends. But yeah, the ending feels like House is finally back.
