Following on from the concert thread, what shows do you like to go to? Theatre, musicals, comedy etc
 
Now this is more what I'd be up for these days!
I have been to the see the WA symphony orchestra and WA youth orchestra many times, but many years ago. I love it. I would absolutely go again, and again and again to watch any orchestra. I saw a post about a live Orchestra playing along with the Twilight movie - I WANT TO SEE THAT!!!! That would be right up my alley! The first show I ever remember seeing was Peter and the Wolf as a child. I am sad I live too far from anything like that now.

I have seen a few stand up comics and a few open mic nights and always leave disappointed, none are ever all that good. The last one I saw was Will Anderson and I decided that would be the last time I pay to see a stand up comedian. Not worth it to me. I dont enjoy Opera much either, but I'd go if someone else paid lol.

I am also too far from the Theater now, I had seen a few shows but none enough that I actually remember what they are! We went to the ballet too, but I wouldn't know much about it besides that it looks pretty. Its been over 10 years since I have been to any show and I'd like to go again but, I'd not like the travel to do so.
 
I'm quite lucky in that within an hours drive of here there's a few decent theatres that will often get the touring version of West End shows, or the previews before it goes to the West End.

I saw Six a few years back now, and Beauty and the Beast in one of the bigger theatres. Back when free newspapers were a thing, I used to go to London with mum, they would advertise coach trips and we'd go to those. Saw We Will Rock You, Mamma Mia and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, probably others but I remember those.

I have got a comedy show booked for November, it's the first time I've gone to one in years. I've seen clips on youtube of it and it looks fun.
 
I love going to see live musicals on stage. ♥ So far I've seen "RENT", "Wicked", "Hamilton", and "CaTs"- though none of them on Broadway. However, I was lucky enough to get to see the original Mark and Roger in the traveling cast for "RENT", which I still cherish to this day.
 
My favorite show was Cavalia, to absolutely no ones surprise. It was amazing, and we had fantastic seats. I got to see it twice, once with work for the media release/rehearsal and then I went to see it again with backstage passes so I could meet the horsies 😀 I'm so glad I got to see that one, it was really worth it.

I saw just about every arena horse show that came through the city from about 98-2014. Some with work, some after clinics, some just for fun. I doubt I could get tickets for them anymore even if I wanted to go. Shows didnt always sell out back then, they do now.
 
I love going to the theatre, I love musicals and comedy shows. That said, I don't go to them frequently. Theatre productions can be quite expensive, but fortunately they're more likely to discount tickets over a music concert.

Been to see Aladdin, Cats, Phantom of the Opera and a few others. Seen Grease, The Rocky Horror Show - all wonderful. Actually, except Cats - didn't see what all the hype was about (Memory is a great song though!).

Yep! ALMOST EVERY musical I have seen I got free tickets too or I sat in the balcony because that's all I could afford.
I have a background in theater. I used to be a stage manager, and theater was my life for like ten years. So I've seen a lot of it, and though I don't work in that world anymore, I still enjoy seeing theater regularly. The city I live in now doesn't have the robust theater scene like the old city I used to live in, which is a shame, but I still see whatever is available. Tomorrow, in fact, I'm, seeing a small fringe production of The Tempest! And last month I saw a production of Beauty and the Beast.

Two of my favorite musicals I have ever seen were Ride The Cyclone and The Outsiders Musical.

I've attended a few stand up comedy open mic nights, but never seen to an official show.

I feel the same about both these things! And this is exactly why I've never seen an opera. I'd rather pay to see a ballet.
AS for stand up, yeah it's so hit or miss. I'd probably enjoy Matt Rife, but wouldn't want to pay too much.

I went to Hay book festival last night to see Fredrik Backman. He was great, had us laughing throughout. Sadly he talked too much doing autographs and they shut the queue down before we could meet him. Still a great night though, I recommend his books and seeing him if you get the chance. No camping, just a drive back and getting home at midnight.
 
I don't really go to shows anymore. Before the Covid shutdown, a friend and I had season tickets for years to a theater that showed mostly plays with maybe one smaller musical each season. We also had season tickets to a Shakespeare company, and I really enjoyed the ways they found to make those plays fresh. However, it was the friend's mom who got her the tickets (and I was the collateral beneficiary!), and she stopped after Covid, and I can't afford them myself.

I do enjoy watching musicals and opera on PBS. I don't think I would want to see an opera in person, but I like being able to watch them over maybe 2-3 nights from TV. I've never been much of a concert person.

My friend is such an impulse purchaser. We talked a few days ago about going to see Sue Perkins show, and as we're all meeting up on Saturday we could look at booking it then. Get a message yesterday saying she's booked her tickets! So we're now definitely going to see Sue Perkins in January! Gotta love a payday impulse purchase! I need to make a note of it on the calendar

I am going to Micheal Jackson tribute show 😀 I cant wait! When I saw it advertised, I thought oh I'd like to see that, but I didnt realise how much I wanted to see it until it was sold out 🙁 I was so disappointed. I checked the site again last night and they had released a few more tickets! So I got one straight away. Its a bit of a hike, but I haven't gone out for ages so I rekon it will be worth it. Now I am polishing up on my singalong skills. Alas, it is a seated concert so there will be no dancing, but I'll refine that too anyway.
 
I love going to see musicals, concerts, and comedy shows. I've only been to a couple of plays in my life and they were just "eh", so maybe I need music or something that makes me laugh to stay engaged? LOL
My favorite musical that I've ever seen live was "RENT". I was lucky enough in 2009 to get to see it with the original Mark and Roger when they were traveling through St. Louis, and it was absolutely phenomenal! I've seen several others, though, too, including "Wicked", "CaTs" and "Hamilton". ♥
