Sick of all the Xander Hate Going on!!!

OMG, people! If I see one more thread bashing something about Xander I think I might go insane! There are so many other characters on this show who are far less than perfect, but for some reason there seem to be a big group of people who prefer to keep posting all these posts about all the bad things he did.
Give it a rest! We know you hate him, but dang... I hate Connor but you don't see me posting all over the Angel boards overanalyzing everything he did. Why not focus on what you LIKE about the show instead of everything you don't?

Well said I will say it again Xander is my Hero hes funny totally geektastic if only a man exisited plus hes the heart of the show like Willow is the Magic and Giles is the Father Buffy is the muscle . Without him or the other characters the show would not be what we all and love x

I really don't mind Xander being there. Sometimes he can be a bit annoying, but Dawn is waay worse than him. I don't understand why people don't like him really. Well, maybe I can, I just don't agree ^^

I don't always agree with everything they have his character do, but nothing he's done on the show has ever made me so annoyed with him as some of these folks. It's just getting on my nerves that every time I turn around, there's another Anti Xander thread in one of the Buffy forums. BLUH!!!

Xander was fantastic. he sometimes said the things others were thinking, and was blunt about situations. he always provided the other view, even if we as viewers didnt agree with it. His sense of humor was awesome and he really came to be someone to admire, void of superpowers and all.

Xander Harris was the sole reason I started watching BtVS. I saw the first ep, and while I liked it, the main reason I wanted to see the next episode was to see more Xander, lol. He's been one of my top characters since day one, and he'll always have a special place in my heart. Without him, I wouldn't be here today.

Me too! In the beginning, I kept waiting for him to wake up and realize he was in love with Willow. 🙂 I always loved his sarcasm and random goofiness... It reminded me a lot of my best guy friend.

How dare you tell me what I can and can't say on here! It's a forum. For discussion. About Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Xander is a character on the show.

You must have lived a very sheltered life if you are 26 and think that people are always going to agree with every little thing you think.

Every single character undergoes scrutiny on the Buffy Boards, look at how Kennedy's character can be spoken about, or the times that Buffy's actions have been questioned.

So I think it is acceptable that I discuss my feelings towards Xander or any other characters, what I didn't think was acceptable on here was horrible internet slang like OMG PPL... LIKE TOTALLYS!

I really hadn't seen so much Xander crtitisism till I came here, found it rather odd... I alwys thought he was generally well liked. I know I love him... the only thing he ever did that made me momentarily mad at him was leaving Anya at the altar... otherwise he's lovable, funny and yeah I agree, the heart... I couldn't imgine the show without the benefits of his energy 🙂

personally, i love him. I think he's an unlikely hero, amazing really, especially with Dawn

I didn't direct my posts at anyone in particular. There are a LOT of people here who continually bash his character, not just you. If you got THAT offended over what I said, then it must have struck a nerve. But one thing I did not and will never do on an internet posting board is try to strike at someone by making fun of how they type, etc. That is completely immature.
And when did I EVER say everyone has to agree with me? Never. It is just frustrating that this character on the show who has never purposely killed anyone, never slept with anyone just to get his rocks off, never done anything except be what he is supposed to be- a flawed human being- keeps getting dissected and ridiculed for every single bad decision his character made on the show. I was simply stating that I am sick of seeing it. Does that mean I expect everyone to stop bashing him? Hell no. That would be really stupid.
But if you think that by coming into this thread and posting some angry little rant directed completely towards me is going to shut me up or run me off, you've got another thing coming. And now I'm done hashing this apparently personal conversation on the main board.

look, cait, "kewl talk"? she just said "OMG" that was IT.
Also, I've seen a few people on the boards hating Xander too.
Just because she doesn't like it doesn't mean she expects this Xander bashing to stop.

And frankly I'm a little annoyed that all this is neccasary

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion be it pro Xander or anti Xander - please respect the opinions of others and if you don't agree then discuss it constructively.

captaindead - with regard to your comment on 'internet slang'. I am not sure if you are directing this purely at BASBritt but in general BASBritt's posts do not contain slang/kewl talk and if they do it is a simple lol or OMG. Most of us have been guilty of this at some point and as Buffy pointed out in that thread you linked to - we are not asking you to be perfect people slip up.

If your comment was in general on the boards and you have any problems with any other members using kewl talk then please send me a pm and i'll take a look at it, I am not a fan of kewl talk because I simply can't read it and don't think it is needed

Well i like all the characters because they all make the show 🙂 there are some i dont like as much but if they bring out emotion in me then that makes them worth being in the shows imo.

Must say that I'm a bit suprised by lots of the bashing and dislike towards different characters and other things regarding the show.
It also makes me feel like such a super nerdy mega fan that I have so few things that bugs me about the show.

I always thought, like Airam, that Xander was generally a very loved character.
And I actually still thinks he is. Its just that it's easier to notice and remember those posts that you don't agree with and makes you bit upset.
While all others posts, with lots of Xander love, passes by since they make more sense 🙂

So, I don't really agree with this thread.
Sure there is some threads, that have been very active lately, where Xanders actions has been discussed.
Naturally it will come up lots of non-love to Xander in those threads since both sides want to have a word.
But I can't see that it has spread all over the board and into other threads.

I'm not anti-Xannder, but I don't ignore his flaws like a lot seem to.

Xander can be really cruel sometimes. I highly disliked him throughout S2 and at the start of S3.

Plus he was a hypocrit.

Haha, good point. I think fans just hold Xander to a higher standard because he's part of the core four. I would say fans are as judgemental of Willow, Giles, and Buff as well 🙂

I agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And without different opinions, the board would be a really boring place. I just think that lately the Xander hate has been in overdrive and don't understand why. 🙂 But I will definitely, from now on, refrain from posting my opinion towards things of this nature unless it can be handled maturely by ALL members of the board.
