Silly and ridiculous!

I always thought the giant praying mantis, the bug things that hatched out of eggs and controlled you, and Buffy's roommate in "Living Conditions". Kathy is a character I really, really hate. I usually skip that ep during rewatches.

And, of course, non-badass Spike.

See, the things you said are the reasons why he's so popular, among the other things. They also make him hot to so many people (including straight guys, I know for a fact). There's a reason why he's the most popular character on the verse ever, why people like him so much. Most people don't find him ridiculous, that's why I think it's interesting what you say, that the things that you find silly are the things that make so many people be attracted, not only to the guy but also to the character.

My view on those things: the things above make him different, not like other guys. He's not a boring character, he doesn't look boring, he doesn't talk boring, he doesn't have a regular name. I mean, isn't it silly that Angel has a girl's name? Isn't his hair silly (or are they just keep saying it, even Angel himself?)? His brooding? Who broods? You know, if we're comparing here, just for fun.

I'm really interested to know, because in cases like this, I always want to make sure that what's said isn't said out of hate for the character (or a couple, or an episode, or anything else for that matter), which is okay to not like who others like (even if they're the most popular character. I mean, I hate Faith who's very popular, but I think she's amazingly written and incredibly deep, I took the time to analyze her character and understand her better. Doesn't mean I like her, but I know she's a very good character). What I'm trying to say, sometimes it seems to me that people let their hate for something affect their judgment. And I'm not talking about you, just in general.
If you still believe that what you're saying is true, it's completely fine, that's your opinion. And I'm in no way attacking you or anything, I really wanna make sure and know what's this really about.

Again, don't see that as an attack, this is me being curious 🙂

I know what you're talking about when you refer to Spike's persona, it is different and there are no many people like that. Some find it silly, like if there's a woman who draws her eyebrows, she's gonna like it and other women might like it too, but we'd think it's ridiculous.

With Spike, even though might seem weird, I admit, me and others find it special and unique, he's not like others. Also, he's a vampire who needs to feel good about himself, I think, he needed that change from William, so he went over the top and out of his way to seperate himself from William.

On the other hand, I believe every person and every character in real life is a little ridiculous, God knows I'm ridiculous as hell often. That's why I think Spike kinda makes sense (also, the William thing and the fact that he's pretty insecure about himself), and that outter layer is just window dressing to cover who he really is. So I don't think he really is that ridiculous if we understand what his look and additude are all about.

This is just my speculations, I like analyzing characters, and I really didn't plan to go on about this like that, so you can either ignore everything I said in this post of take it in 😛

The idea of Slayerfest 99. So ridiculous I almost cried.

Zachary Kralik, he was silly in the very best way possible. It didn't hurt that Jeff Kober is so hot in an unconventionally cute/serial murderer way.

Hyena possession and the eating of Principal Flutie.

The constant affirmations that Buffy is "prettier" than the slayer who came before her. I might be the only one who got irked by that though.

I only liked the name Slayerfest 99, thought it was very funny. Well, not very funny, but to some degree of funny.

Im pretty happy with everything else in the show. There are some cheesy demons/monsters etc but i think that just adds to the charm 🙂
