Sire?

I'm sure this is an easy answer but I can't recall offhand

Who Sired Spike? I recall him saying in one episode (his first) that Angel was his sire but then in Fool for love Im pretty sure that's Drusilla siring him. Or do I have a wrong understanding of the word Sire?
 
I'm pretty sure that Dru is Spike's Sire. This is what we see in Fool for Love. I think what Spike was saying That Angel was his Tacher. Wich most good Srie's are. The Master tught Darla. Darla Tught Angelus. Angelus Tught Dru. But Dru never tught Spike how to be a Master Vamp. Angelus did.. So I think Spike thought of Angel/Angelus as his Srie even though he was his Gradsrie. As we hear in School Hard:

Spike: You think you can fool me?! You were my sire, man! You were
my... Yoda!

Angel: Things change.

Spike: Not us! Not demons! Man, I can't believe this. You Uncle Tom!
(grabs his pole from the floor) Come on, people! This isn't a spectator
sport!
Thats were we hear about Angel being Spike's Srie. But every were else it tells us that Dru was Spike's Srie.

I also heard it said that Dru started to srie Spike(whta we see) But then Angel steped in and Sired Spike.
 
Drusilla was the one who had sired Spike. She was alone at the time. And Angelus didn't meet Spike until after the latter became a vampire.

But Angelus was the one who taught Spike how to become a master vampire.

I do remember one of the flashback eps, cant recall the name, where Spike is sired by Dru. It as confused me a bit especially since in School Hard Spike said to Angel 'You were my sire man, you were my yoda.'

I know those two points totally confused me too. The fact that he refers to him as his 'yoda' makes me think perhaps he did mean sire in more of the 'vampire mentor program' ?

hehe Vampire Mentor Program. Ahh I think I get it more now. I don't recall many other mentions like this so that's why it's a bit confusing. Didn't Darla sire Angel and they also mention that the Master Sire'd Angel?
 
I can't recall hearing that the Master sired Angel, doesn't mean to say its not been said I just can't remember it. Of course we all saw Darla sire him.
 
In a nutshell:

The Master sired Darla in the Virginia Colony (1609) and was her mentor.

Darla sired Angelus in Galway, Ireland (1753). After acting as his mentor for nearly a decade, she introduced Angelus to the Master. The two did not get along. She and Angelus left the Master and she continued to act as his mentor.

Angelus sired Drusilla in London, England (1860). Both he and Darla acted as her mentor, although Angelus did most of the job.

Drusilla sired William aka Spike in London, England (1880). Spike met Angelus after he had risen as a vampire. Due to Drusilla's mental state, Angelus acted as Spike's mentor.

William aka Spike sired Anne, his mother, in London, England (1880). He killed her after she had risen as a vampire.

Yup, Dru was his Sire but you could say Angelus was his Grand-Sire and Darla was his Great Grand Sire.

Spick refered to Angelus as his Yoda. So while Dru did the bringing across it was Angelus that taught him to become the monster he became. :Bolt:
