Since we've found out about the slayers-in-training this season, I've been wondering one thing: why didn't Buffy know about her possibility of being a slayer until she was actually called? Why was she the exception? Comments, speculation (but no spoilers), and answers are welcome. 🙂

Well you know that one slayer that Buffy picked up at the train station? She had said she had no idea that she was a potential slayer until she arrived in Sunnydale. So maybe none of the girls knew until recently, and it was necessary for them to know because they were being hunted and killed.

But I was wondering the same thing.

They knew, they were being trained in advance, however, sometimes the Council was unable to find the Potentials. That is what happened in Buffy's case!

Remember Buffy was the Slayer before she got to Sunnydale. The council did identify her late, but they did send a watcher to her, Merrick(once again not sure about spelling). The movie actually does tie in with Season 1 in some suddle ways.

There was somthing about this a few years back that i asked my mate about. theres a spike and dru book which deals with Slayers in waiting.

anyhoo im not sure where the following comes from or if its canon but it goes like so...

Slayers are born with a birthmark and the council finds these and trains them like kendra

every now and then there are lost slayers like buffy and kendra who the council dont find til they go round killing evil...

anyhoo

does that make sence?

lmao! as I was trying to say, she had been a SIT too, and what about Faith, she hasn't been a SIT, has she?

the birthmark is from the movie...

and the slayers power supposed to surface when girls become women and get their period...with accompanying cramps and pms...the movie made a big deal bout that...

is it me...but do spike(tv) and pike(movie) look exactly the same but with different hair....basically...james marsters and luke perry from 9021 hO...

You have to forget everything you ever saw in the movie, some of the things are the same, but a lot of other things are different, and basically the movie was terrible!

movies...there weren't any sequals

and the movie was hella ill...kristy swanson is hella hotter than Sarah Gellar...and it is what started the whole franchise...it did the hard work...no matter how 80's b-movie it may have seemed...it was the appropriate style for a concept like buffy where comedy is inbetted into the soul of the show

Sorry, typo ... it's edited now! ... Kristy Swanson is, I'm sorry to say, kind of a turn-off! ... It was an 80's B-movie, the only thing that was really good, was the idea, and therefore, Joss used it!

I thought the movie was awesome. Hella cheesy, but I like some cheese once in a while. And I think Swanson did a great job, and she's very pretty. But if I were a guy I'd be sweating over SMG 10 times more. Meh, who am I kidding. I DO sweat over SMG.

I don't think Faith was a SIT.

Given her alcholic mother and absentee father, I'm guessing Faith didn't have a clue about being a Slayer until her Watcher turned up.

Ok, God helped me, she's hot allright, but she wasn't in the Buffy movie!
