What do you do for a living..?

I have a rough idea of what quite a few members do..but there's quite a few new members, so let's have it.

Do you work full time? Part time? Voluntary? Full time Mommy? Unemployed? Do you study? What are your ambitions for your career in the future? And are you happy? Are you doing what you've always wanted to do?

"Health Care Worker" which is a glorified term for 30-40 hpw work for a third of the minimum wage looking after arthritic, infirm, partially disabled and cardiac troubled people in the local community.

Crappy, but I live at home and it pays for a few nice things and trips. Hope to get a proper job next year.
 
I'm a student. My father basically pays for most of my costs which in a way I'm not too proud of, but well, I haven't got really the time to find a student job. Probably it's a lame excuse, but I find my life busy enough mostly. Anyway, I hope, I'll have a job in like two years' time and that I then can pay the student bills for my brother maybe, because he will not be as lucky as me, as we've got different fathers and he has to share everything with the rest of the family. Which in itself is totally unfair for the guys. I feel sorry for them and I hope I can add my share of stuff and bring him through university, if he then is interested in studying. If not, more money for me. I'll might invest it then for my other sibblings. However, as the financial crisis develops, I'm so o'clueless of what the world will be like next summer, that I don't dare to make big plans really.
 
At the minute I am studying English and History in University. I'm also about to start a certificate course in Youth Ministry Leadership. I honestly do not know what I will do with my degree. I'm fairly certain I will go on for a masters and possibly a doctorate in history. I really want to do something with mentoring teenages but I'm just unsure what path I will take with it.

To pay the bills I will be going back to work in the shop I've worked in for 5 years and possibly also getting another job in the offices I did my coop in. *fingers crossed*
 
Plumbing from 7-3 then working in a grocery store from 4-10 and occasionally 11-7.

I live with a roommate in a apartment so I need cash for bills and groceries and other stuff.
 
I am in charge of the graphics, marketing, public relations and inside sales departments for the company which I work for. Am I doing what I always wanted to do? Not really, but I have so many damn hobbies and wants that limiting myself to only one seems a waste. I am more of a jack-of-all-trades cat as opposed to focusing on one specific field.

Great thread! It's interesting to see what other BB peeps are doing in life.

I too am studying English at a university. I also plan on getting a certificate in teaching ESL so I can use that in Europe someday.

After school, I don't know about going for a Masters degree. At this point, I'm just dealing with right now, you know?

I want to write a book when I'm done with school. I also would really like to move to Sweden.

As for paying my rent, I work in the school library. Very boring! My boyfriend and I split the rent, and our place is pretty cheap, so my bills aren't that high.

Im a freelance budda loving , jobcentre fiend at the moment. im half happy , half not. Typical manic really. love it ..always hate it! booyayaya! x
 
The technical name of my job is a Program Advisor for Medical Hair Institute Australia.

Basically though - I help bald men re-grow hair, by monitoring the program that has been chosen for them by a doctor.

Full time, but 3 days a week I stay back till 7 so I only need to work 4 and a half days rather than 5.

Good thread Spoons, It's nice to hear what other people are doing.

That's EXACTLY what I do for a job... Hehehe.
I just sit on my arse all day and get benefits because i can't go out and get a job

Happy? kinda, having a job wouldn't suit someone as lazy as me
 
I'm a full time mommy myself, but I'm coming off from a majority of retail jobs--HELL. At one time just before I got pregnant I had 3 jobs out of necessity!
But I want to be a writer/photographer and I've been writing in extra spare time and taking pictures in regular spare time to try and put together a portfolio so maybe in the semi nearish future I can get some paying customers. If nothing else they're hobbies that keep me sane!
 
Freelance photojournalist. Lots of pitching and lots of rejection (and not cause I'm bad! haha). Because of the advent of sites like photobucket, myfacespace, blogger.com, etc. just about ANY one can take a picture and post a commentary on it. Very competitive and then there's the economy... I've always wanted to work for an outdoorsy/travel magazine something like National Geographic.

I've gotten used to having a home and this pesky habit of eating daily, so I've gone back to school to study medicine and maybe become a nurse or keep on keeping on into doctor territory. Something practical and virtually recession proof. I can always do photojournalism in my spare time thanks TO the aforementioned sites 🙂

I'm semi-retired now (long term disability, actually, until I reach retirement age), but I worked for 37 years as a maintenance electrician for Georgia Power Co. In addition, my family owns and operates a martial arts studio, and I have done a little work with Habitat For Humanity, and plan to do more in the future.

I'm in Government Procurement. And I see that look on your face! Everyone does that when I tell them what I do, LOL!

Basically, I buy anything and everything the County I work for needs to carry out the business of County government.....road materials, vaccines, computers, telephones, paper, pencils, animal care items, etc. It's pretty interesting work. Don't like the people a whole lot (well just a couple in particular, the others are great) but the job itself is kinda fun!
 
I have three jobs

1: Full time mommy to a VERY onery two year old!
2: Full time student who will have a bachelor's degree at the end of the spring semester (and then more school)
3: Part time job (meaning anywhere from 16-32 hours a week) working as a front desk clerk/phone operator/everything else at this darn place at a fancy schmancy hotel. Which is what I'm doing now.....hmm, working hard huh
