I live off the Dutch government. They pay me for studying. Hell, sometimes it is fun to be a student. Oh, and I also work in a supermarket. Check out. Not so much fun, but it makes me some extra money to dye my hair, get some ink done (January 24th! It's gonna be simple, but really cool🙂), stuff like that.

I'm a teacher in a stingy public school district (equals severely underpaid). I teach 2nd grade. This is my fourth year as a teacher (2 years as a first grade teacher, 2 years as a second grade teacher). I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and shudder at the thought of having to get my Masters. I saw what my husband went through getting his Masters Degree.

Well Right now I am a full-time mom. This past semester I was also a full-time college student as well. I found it extremely hard to be both at the same time. So next semester I will be a full-time mom and a part-time college student. Before that I worked as a full-time groom working with race horses. I plan on eventually going back to the horse racing industry as a horse trainer one day.

Interesting thread!

In September I started studying English at university, but quit two weeks ago because I was utterly bored with it. I am by no means disinterested in English/American language, literature, history and culture, but the depth they took it to (mainly the literature) was just too much. I concluded that it'd be safer just to keep it as a hobby.

So now I've just got a part-time job, packing bread at night for a large bakery company (the kind that deliver to hotels etc.). My first shift starts in 17 hours. :biggrin:

But obviously I'm not going to work with that for the rest of my life. If and when I go back to school it's likely going to be something non-academic - I'm considering receptionist and dairyman (woman?). Lol, NOT what I would have thought two years ago. :biggrin:

Other than that I hope to get my act together and start working and writing seriously on this idea I have for a collection of short stories.

Im pretty sure you all know what I do. But now I've got a bit of paper telling me Im a qualified instructor for Riding for the Disabled. The horses are all out on holidays at the moment so Im doing sweet f all for a bit. Then maybe next year I might get a job doing something easy. Im still kinda recovering from a fall from doing trackwork so I duno if I will go back to riding as a job... too much work and not enough pay!

I work at CVS/pharmacy as a cashier, part-time. Usually 4 days a week, 8 hours a day, though sometimes 3 days a week.

I'm also a full-time college student. I'm a freshman now, and I'm aiming to get my Master's in creative writing (hopefully this will happen by 2013). I want to write novels for a living. (Yes, yes, I know that means I'll probably be working at CVS forever, writing on the side, but oh well.)

I'm a student, working on finishing her BA in Literature by end of spring semester, should all go well. After that, who knows. I thought about a Masters in Creative Writing, but... in some ways some of that stuff is too snobbish for me. 😉 That is to say, I'd rather use my own rules. 😉 (Yes, I'm rather independent)

I'm currently unemployed, and trying desperately to fix that, even applying to stupid fast food places... I abhor fast food places, but if it's what I have to do, I guess I don't have a choice. And hey, Buffy worked at Doublemeat Palace, so.......

I am planning on getting ESL/EFL certification this summer, and I'll probably be taking a couple paralegal courses this coming semester. I hope to participate in JET, but that mostly depends on whether JAG pans out for Mr. Crayon.

I'm a student but i have a part time job at a cafe, which i LOVE we're the "Sunday crew,here to help you" and are basically the rejects from Saturday becuase were not cool enough,but everyone knows were the best. Its only becuase the Saturday lot are "popular plastics" with there barbie doll hair and perfect make-up!

The PC term I think is meant to be administrator, but I prefer Office bitca or Paper monkey. Currently I temp so that when I have managed to save up enough money through work, I can take off for extended periods of time and not necessarily have to go back. Plus it helps me stay in the country for longer while still being able to afford to. But it means I've been a receptionist for more than I would have liked to have been...

Part time Sociology PhD student (final year, thank god... actually what do I mean - that means I need to finish writing it!) and part time librarian in the Physics library at the University of Bristol. I'm never leaving university - I'll either be studying or working at this Ox-nard rejects centre until I shuffle loose this mortal coil.

Also got 2 children, hence the part timeness of everything.

Great thread! It's interesting to see what other BB peeps are doing in life.

I too am studying English at a university. I also plan on getting a certificate in teaching ESL so I can use that in Europe someday.

After school, I don't know about going for a Masters degree. At this point, I'm just dealing with right now, you know?

I want to write a book when I'm done with school. I also would really like to move to Sweden.

As for paying my rent, I work in the school library. Very boring! My boyfriend and I split the rent, and our place is pretty cheap, so my bills aren't that high.

I felt compelled to add something to this. I always wanted to be a actor. That was my dream. I love acting...but then I realized I wasn't very good, and there's so much competition...even with getting cast in local shows. So, that's my side thing whenever I have time. 🙂

Anyone else into acting? Theatre?

I have 2 jobs.

My primary one is what they call "stock clerk" at our local international airport. Basically, we're responsible for accepting and putting away deliveries(of food, beer, etc.)...making deliveries to 5 locations(as of the time I'm writing this message; soon it'll be more than that-as the airport is expanding to add 5 new restaurants by this time next year)...as well as various and sundry duties. The way I like to describe the job is this: The duties never change, the day-to-day circumstances do. Plus, with all the walking, lifting, etc. that's asked of us, it does give you a heckuva workout.

During the baseball season, I work for the local baseball team(Triple A)as a cashier, dispensing food and drink. I only work for them on certain days that don't conflict with the primary job.

(I had a 3rd one-working at HSBC Arena as a parking attendant, but was forced to leave that job. I won't say why, but I can tell you it was not due to performance and the departure was on good terms.)

I'm currently a server at a restaurant... it sucks royaly, lol, but I make pretty good money most of the time. But dealing with people, such whiney people really drains the spirit. Anyone thats ever been a waiter I'm sure would agree... I think EVERYONE should be required to work in a restaurant at some point just so they can be better restaurant guests, I mean seriously! Tipping, ettiqute, general politeness, it should all be taught in a class or something! If anyone has seen the film "Waiting..." you'll know its not only hilarious, but extremely accurate! :silly: DO NOT f*** with the people that handle your food!

Hopefully not too late into the new year though, I'll be counseling, studying to get certified now... I want to do youth counseling or maybe family counseling, though I'm also considering starting with school guidance counseling so the school will help me pay for my masters.

I explode paint cans for a living, or work in paint shop to be more exact. 😀

It's a good job in that there's not much work to be done 😉 and I don't have to deal with customers like other retail jobs. It's mostly businesses that buy our paint so that's a great plus. And the wages are good. I actually get paid the same amount as I did when I was working a min. wage full time job but now I only work 4 hours a day. So the thought of the amount I would get if I changed to full time hours is gooood, but anyone who knows me knows I'm too lazy to be working full time. 😉

Basically it's a really quiet place where there's not much to do. Most of my time is spent eating or sitting down or even napping. Good times. 🙂

Oh and I get Christmas holidays off, yay!
