Skipping episodes

IOHEFY is one of my favourite season two episodes and I've always thought of it as a pretty popular episode. I even like it despite the Bangelness and that's saying something. 😉

I like the whole storyline of the teacher and the student from the fifties, and I think that the reversal of roles when Buffy and Angel are possessed is really clever. Good ep.

O no wouldn't skip it either.. I actually thought people didn't like it that much, but I haven't done any research on it so 😛.. But that's just how I feel about, it's kind of boring...

I can see what you mean. It might be a little boring. But not all boring stuff are bad. I think "The Body" is boring, yet it's a very good episode.

Whenever I do a Buffy rewatch, I'm tempted to skip some episodes (*cough* Doublemeat Palace *cough*), but I always end up watching every single one of them anyway! I get so stuck in the Buffyverse, that I can't bring myself to do any skipping. I do tend to multitask during certain episodes, though. (*cough* Doublemeat Palace *cough*)

Well, you just learn to accept the "not everything is black and white" thing. The Body is brilliant by many standards, Joss had really put thought into everything in this episode. Like the no background music, death as it is in real life, the part where it's not all about vampires, the camera shots, the characters reactions and emotions, the metaphors, etc. I just know it's a good episode not only by watching it, if that makes me excited, but also by knowing and noticing the facts about the written script and how the whole episdoe was made. Doesn't mean it's not boring.
And vise versa. There are interesting and fun episodes that aren't that good. I'm sure everyone can come up with a few.

Yes, i like The Body because of all of that, but I honestly didn't really even notice it until saw the episode with Joss' commentery and then it was like wow...
but there's so many things in that episode that I enjoy watching that I don't think I could ever think it's boring.
And yes some episodes that are fun are relly dumb, like The Puppet Show or Bad Eggs.

Don't kill me, but I don't get the love for Spike, he's overrated..

It's not that I don't like Spike, I do. I just don't love him and I don't think he's as great as most people seem to think, also I can't stand Spuffy.. I am so dead..

Yes, I understand that I am in minority on this, so I will be approaching this very carefully. 😀
First off, I do like Spike, sometimes he's alright, like in season 2.
I can't put my finger on it, but I guess the main reason I am not a big fan of Spike is Spuffy, I don't like that ship at all.
His hair, clothes, name, badboy-attitude bugs me sometimes..
And in season 5 of Ats Spike was just really annoying..

His bad boy attitude was pretty much a cover up though. 😉 Ask anyone! His hair?! You gotta love the peroxyde look! Lmao.

I do agree he was too silly in AtS s5, but that usually happened when he was around Angel. They both bring the immature boy side in each other. 😉

Yes, haha 🙂 but I didn't mind Angel being silly and immature, that was amusing to me but Spike just made me cringe.

The thing about Spike though it's not really that i dislike him, I just don't care about him, so I don't get the love for him.

Hmmm...I'm doing a rewatch right now. I'm up to Reptile Boy, and so far I've skipped Out of Mind, Out of Sight, Some Assembly Required, and Inca Mummy Girl. I think I skip more episodes in the early seasons than the later ones.

I was just doing a re-watch of S5, and didn't think I could take watching The Body when I got to it (I was in too happy a mood) but I couldn't bring myself to skip it, so my re-watch is still on hold.

I do a complete series re-watch every couple of years and don't skip anything, but mostly I watch Buffy by choosing random episodes. To ensure that I watch different ones (that aren't necessarily my favorites), I sometimes call random people and say "Give me 3 numbers between 1 and 144!" or use a random number generator online to pick a couple of episodes for me. I'm too indecisive!

I pretty much never skip an episode. But I also never watch The Body flippantly. So this usually ends up with me speeding through most of the first 5 seasons then coming to a dead halt until I'm in the right frame of mind to watch The Body properly.

The thing is though, I mostly see the shows on TV now. Buffy is constantly re-run on FX, and Angel on SyFy. This actually works to my advantage, because if it's an episode I "don't like", I'll just flick over. So when I come to a full rewatch, I'll find that the "bad" ones are still pretty fresh. I find a whole bunch of stuff in them I'd forgotten about, or never seen before. I like that.

I skipped "Beer Bad", "Where The Wild Things Are" and "Fear Itself" during my most recent re-watch of Season 4. The first two were because they aren't that great, and the latter one because I'd seen it a couple of times already.

I skip episodes ALL of the time! Haha. I usually just skip around anyways. But there are some I've seen SO many times and I still watch them cause I love them. The only ones I'll skip are ones I hate. Or ones that are pointless, IMO. But if there is one I don't really care for and there is like a part I really like, I'll skip to that part. haha. I usually ALWAYS skip season 7. Haha. Too damn depressing for me, plus, in my "perfect-happy world" BtVS just stops at the kiss Willow and Tara share RIGHT before she gets shot. Haha. But sometimes, like if I'm watching with my mom, we'll watch it all, she likes season 7. She's a HUGE Spuffy. lol. And sometimes I can stand season 7 if I don't pay much attention to the Willow stuff, which is SUPER hard cause I LOVE her to death! ... yeah.

I think it's because it doesn't fit at all with the surrounding episodes. Help, Selfless, Him, CWDP, Sleeper... You know when a friend is telling you a serious story, and then they get distracted halfway through and tells you something that has nothing to do with the other parts of the story? That's how I feel about Him. It's fine out of context but in a Buffy rewatch it gets on my nerves. Drama, drama, comedy, drama, drama.

I skip Living Conditions because I absolutely hate it, and sometimes I skip The Body. It's so painful to watch and brings back memories I don't want and makes me all upset.

Omg! I skip Living Conditions too!! I HATE it! It's seriously the MAIN ep that gets on my nerves/I hate, aside from any of the season 7 eps. haha.

When I was watching them all with my mom for the first time. She fell asleep during that ep! hah! So I didn't even tell her and just went on to the next ep the next time we started watching again.
