Skye

I know a lot of people are torn when it comes to this character. Personally I don't like the character. I think the whole 'on the outside looking in' just does not work on the show, and now they've 'kind of let her in but not really cos she's not an agent'.

It isn't really working and I think the people saying they should put the Skye character to rest are right. What do you guys think. A fan or not?

I don't think she's ever going to be 'put to rest'.

She's the Dawn character of this series. She's important, but she's not integral to the plot on a week-to-week basis and it's got people wondering why she's even there - much like they did with Dawn after S5, even when it was obvious that Buffy needed Dawn and she was never going to go anywhere, whether she was useful or not.

Skye is a very slow burner, but, then again, the show in general is a slow burner, though it's been getting better, and I think Skye's role is the type of role that can only be defined as the series goes on. She's the noob, she's new at EVERYTHING, whereas everyone else already had their roles defined, and Skye's just floating, trying to find her place and trying to be useful in a world she doesn't really understand. I think Skye will play a huge part as the season draws to a close, and it'll probably be her idea or input that saves the day for everyone, because she's that kind of character.

Personally, I don't really mind Skye. She's not my favorite character, but she's certain not my least favorite. She's the human character, the character that everyone on the outside can relate to, because she's us on the inside. And I like that.

Completely disagree.

The show needs Skye, without her there's no one looking in and the audience needs that. The agency would be very closed off to the audience without a character on the outside.

Plus, for me Fitz, Simmons and Skye are the highlights of the show, loosing one of them would be detrimental to the enjoyment of the show for me. I dont find May or Grant interesting at all and Coulsons story has been really badly handled, filled with over the top references to his "death".

And they've just made Skyes back story the most interesting part of the show as of the last episode.

Oh, each to their own, no doubt, and of course Skye has her fans, and she WAS put in the show to provide eyes for the viewer on the inside of SHIELD, but I'm struggling to find anything interesting about her. Sometimes she's funny but Fitz, Simmons, May and Coulson make the show for me, as does Ward with his dry sarcasm.

Ultimately they toned down the humour in the show because of the backlash it got which I dislike cos I LOVED the first ep humour. Maybe I'll grow to like Skye, I dunno. I'm just on the fence right now.
