Thank you! Glad to hear he settles back into the accent we are all accustomed to.

Giles I assume sounds different because of Tony Head's age? Or do you think it's something else? Like with Amber, maybe their voices don't 'translate' very well in an audio-only setting?

To me, it feels like they had trouble getting back into their characters. Also, I think I keep forgetting that this series DOES take place 10 years later, so there would be some minor differences. And I think having Anthony Head in UK while the others were in USA also made some of the directing difficult. But that could also be in my mind..

I know, but I'm also wrestling with "Charisma, Emma and Juliet have no problem getting their voices back". But then I am also making allowances because Amber co-wrote and co-created this production, so I'm sure she was also being pulled multiple ways, while Charisma and Emma had more time to focus getting back into their characters. Also, their characters are a lot more true to form than Alt-Tara is, even if they have different backstories.

Side note: I love that Anya has a dog named Jasper.

Especially since this chart covers the week ending October 15 and it was only released on the 12th.

I think they only update the reviews once per day. When I was checking the charts to make my post it said 6 reviews just like you said, but now it says 9.

I would guess not that many people have reviewed it yet because it's a fairly long series. It's about the same length as Buffy season 1 so it's not a surprise it might take more than a week or two for everybody to get all the way through it.

Good point on ASH being in another country. Could be a factor.

I imagine if they get the green light to do another audio series they'll be completely settled into their roles. Just like riding a bike, as the saying goes..

Finished yesterday. I really wish I had something more positive to say, but Jesus, what schlock. Anyanka being a talking dog, the constant and mind-numbingly dumb "quipping" from absolutely everyone, the KISSING noises...

The story is interesting enough. James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Juliet Landau and Amber Benson (at the end only – evil Tara was humiliating and incredibly hard to listen to) did excellent jobs in particular. I thought Emma Caulfield did an okay job, but the writing mostly let her down – Anya just wasn't giving Anya IMO. I did like Indira, although I wish she'd been a LOT less self-aware.

Overall, I found this to be an...embarrassing-at-worst dip back into the Buffyverse. I would have expected a significantly stronger effort from the likes of Christopher Golden.

I'm at a solid 2/5.

Thank you, this finally made up my mind on skipping. It's pretty much what I expected of cash grabs (not above giving false credit on writers to sucker new buyers), and even some praise of it makes me think I'd see it as you did.
Finished chapter one. I got a feeling that, when Clem was talking about Fifty Shades and toxic couples, there was definite subtext related to Spike and Buffy there.
 
I heard a lot of good things about it from friends, so I'm going to pick this up soon. I'll definitely write a review here.

Dru acts so strangely most of the time that it is easy to overlook the fact that she killed a Slayer with her fingernail.

This is one of the more threatening Drusillas.
