Glamours are a basic element of fantasy magic. All non-humans would wear one to evade detection from the uncanny valley, the stronger vampires can weaponize it as hypnosis. Nuns, at least, can see through it. The only problem with this, is that Vampire Lovers like Spike and Angel should then be walking corpses that we ignore the smell of due to light magic telling us to ignore it. Maybe that will be Buffy's out in the reboot series.
I think of Heather the Ghoul from "Vampires: The Masquerade: Bloodlines" which is basically GTA 3 with Vampires. You have a chance to save her life with your blood, and latter she becomes your Renfield, seducing and kidnapping men to feed you, becoming obsessed with you, changing her entire appearance and personality to please you. She becomes a parody of an actual human being for her master.
For my part, Vampires using refinement and sophistication to hide from the brutality and baseness of their existence is one of the tropes of the genre. Vampires see their existence as apotheosis, and not a debased parasite hiding in graves. Spike isn't shocked in Seeing Red because he did some evil, he's shocked because he was forced to admit something about his nature, he's not a god, he's just a monster pretending to be a human, yet corrupted by human desire. But that's just my head canon, I don't think Season 6 was trying to say anything about vampires, or anything useful about masculinity.
