Small Moments That Made Me Love Xander

I'm going to make my own list, there will probably be things that have already been told 😀

- In the Zeppo, when 1. he saves the school, 2. doesn't even brag about it.
- His speech to Buffy in Into the Woods
- His speech to Anya in Into the Woods
- His speech to Dawn in Potential
- His speech to Willow in Grave
- His speech to Buffy in I don't remember which episode, in which he his disguised as a punching ball and says to Buffy "Lean me on the wall" before saying his speech.
- His speech to Buffy in The Freshman and how he helped her
- When he buys Cordelia's dress (and doesn't brag about it).
- When he lights Spike's cigaret
- In Killed by Death, when he treathens Angelus and manages to make him go.
- When he didn't day to Buffy Willow was going to perform the spell (even if that's very controversial).
- In When she was bad, when he knows that Buffy is not over the Master yet (you know, when Buffy killed all the vampires and Willow says "It's over" and Xander knows that it isn't).
- When he gives a stolen rocket launcher to Buffy saying "Happy Birthday"
- When he hugs Willow in the Body.
- When he does the Snoopy dance.
- When he goes all geeky with Andrew.
- In Where the wild things are, when he goes for the saving even tough no one else wants to go.
- When he lost an eyes and is the one trying to confort Willow.
- When he is ready to sacrifice himself for Willow three times (in The Pack,Inca Mummy girl and Tirangle)
- When a vampire kicks the hell out of him but he screams at Cordy to run away
- In The Zeppo when Cordy tries to drive him mad but he just smiles at her
- In Amends, when he helps Buffy with her research (or did I just dream this one?)
- When he's a leader in Graduation Day's big fight
- His funny quotes

That's all I can think about now!

Only a couple of "small" things spring to mind for me, but I remember them:

1) When he walks away from Cordelia at the end of The Zeppo

2) Buying the dress, obviously.

3) His face when Riley says 'but she doesn't love me'. Don't ask me why, I just love it.

4) His speech to Buffy in Into the Woods.

I just love Xander in season one when we were first seeing him. I always smile at some of his moments. The way he gets into situations like with the teacher.
One of my all time favorite moments for Xander was when he talked to Andrew at the end of Chosen. When Andrew said Anya saved my life and he said she was always doing stupid things I just love that moment so much.

Wow! Wonderful list of moments 😀

Another moment would be Xander massaging Willow's head in Revelations. It's such a sweet moment. I love best friends massaging each other's heads. 😀

In season 7 when he was talking to Willow while they are walking to Tara's grave...the little hammer analogy.

Good cop, Bad cop...when Xander and Anya interrogate Andrew

When all the potentials are freaking out and Xander says:
"I've been through more battles with Buffy than you all can ever imagine. She's stopped everything that's ever come up against her. She's laid down her life - literally - to protect the people around her. This girl has died two times, and she's still standing. You're scared? That's smart. You got questions? You should. But you doubt her motives, you think Buffy's all about the kill, then you take the little bus to battle. I've seen her heart, and this time - not literally. And I'm telling you, right now, she cares more about your lives than you will ever know. You gotta trust her. She's earned it." Awww

love that speach. but then him and the rest of the gang ruin it in the next ep.
I love that proud smile he shoots Anya when she talks about ex-demons being valuable members to society to Tara's father in Family.

You guys have mentioned the ones I was thinking of, but here's another exchange from "Dirty Girls" that I really like:

AMANDA
Besides, if Matthew Broderick can kill Godzilla, how tough is he?

ANDREW
(whines) Xander... (crosses his arms petulantly)

XANDER
Matthew Broderick did not kill Godzilla. He killed a big, dumb lizard. That was not the real Godzilla.

And I can't for the life of me think of the episode, but there's a short scene outside the Magic Box when Xander and Tara pass each other and give each other a genuine, warm smile that only really close friends give each other . . . I thought that was really cute.

Oh, couple of more: In "Family" when Tara's brother threatens to force her to come back, and Xander says he'll "break something trying"

And, when Willow was evil, Andrew says he could summon a demon that would kill her, and Xander says "and I could smack you so hard your eyeballs switch sockets:"

I love when Xander turns into a 'babbeling idiot' in the first episode, or when he squeezes the carton of juice when Anya drops her dress lol.

I love Xander! I feel he's kind of a tragic character, in terms of relationships in that he's so affected by his parents' dysfunctional relationship and this shadows all of his relationships (at least until the end of season 7, haven't seen anything beyond that yet)...But that's neither here nor there in terms of the topic of this thread.

there are many small moments that make me love xander, and a lot of them have already been said, but what really gets me are the big moments, the moments where you see just how deep and multi layered he is... 4 pop into my head...

1) in the pack when he tries to attack buffy...now please don't get upset with me for this but that drew me to xander in that -"look who just got dangerous"- it intrigued me the level of intensity he was capable of
2) in the halloween episode in season 2 his soldier persona
3) in the zeppo, that last scene when you knew he really was ok with dying... he just seemed so quietly confident...really solid at the core
4) what he says to dawn about seeing and understanding her when she discovers she's actually not chosen to be another slayer.

Aw, I love Xander! He truly is the heart of the group and is great for keeping things in perspective for the other characters. Things I love:

-Xander lying so he and Cordy could steal the rocket launcher. Stealth!
-Xander covering for Cordy in "The Prom" and buying her dress
-His humor in general. Cracks me up!
-The way he and Willow have that friendship bond thing going on
-The way he spilled the beans when Angel visited Sunnydale without telling Buffy
-How he loves Anya, and the speech he gives her in "Into the Woods"
-His perseverance to succeed in life, even though odds were against him. He went from geek-boy to successful construction guy
-He isn't afraid to call Buffy out when he thinks she's screwing up. Whether it's justified or not, it take guts to call-out a girl who could wrap you up like a pretzel
-He knows he doesn't have super powers, but does his best to help out the group in any and every way he can

One more, I just rewatched the freshman and xander's pep talk to Buffy in the bronze really got to me. When he tells her she's his hero. He really saved the day in that episode...he helped buffy get her groove back!

I love how he always ends up in these "friendly" situations with Spike, even though they loathe each other. They end up living together, sharing food, playing pool, conversing....cracks me up.

"Buffy, I've gone through some fairly dark times in my life, faced some scary things, among them the kitchen at 'The Fabulous Ladies Night Club.' Let me tell you something, when it's dark and I'm all alone and I'm scared or freaked out or whatever, I always think, 'What would Buffy do?' You're my hero. Ok, sometimes when it's dark and I'm all alone I think, 'What is Buffy wearing?" Xander in the Freshman.

It's moments like these that just amaze me at how incredible an individual Xander is. I cannot properly express how much this fictional character moves me.

Oh gosh, the episode, Spiral, where Xander helps Spike light his cigarette when they are all trapped hiding from Glory and the knights. "Have I mentioned today how much I don't like you?" They have a nice conversation.

That is a great moment.
Everyone has such great Xander moments. And there are just SO many that make him so loveable. But the one that stood out immediately was from "Potential" from S7, when Dawn realizes that she isn't really a Potential. Xander gives her this great speech about how she really does have a power, and it's the power of sight.

"Seven years, Dawn. Working with the slayer. Seeing my friends get more and more powerful. A witch. A demon. Hell, I could fit Oz in my shaving kit, but come a full moon, he had a wolfy mojo not to be messed with. Powerful. All of them. And I'm the guy who fixes the windows...

They'll never know how tough it is, Dawnie, to be the one who isn't chosen. To live so near to the spotlight and never step in it. But I know. I see more than anybody realizes because nobody's watching me. I saw you last night. I see you working here today. You're not special. You're extraordinary."
