Smartphone recs

My husband and I are finally going to get some kind of smartphone. His company pays for his cell, and will contribute a set amount of money per month for Blackberry service. They will only pay for it if it is a Blackberry. We will share voice & messaging minutes, and of course have our own data. So, it doesn't matter which phone I get. He'll probably get the Blackberry Torch. I really like the Torch (like to have both a full screen plus a QWERTY keyboard), but since it's new it's expensive (& I can't find a refurb option). I'm thinking about a refurbed IPhone, although I'm not totally stuck on that. I want to use it for email, internet, messaging, and I'd love to have an mp3 option. GPS would be nice, too, but not essential. What do you guys recommend? What are your experiences with refurbed phones?

Not sure what refurbished phones are like but if you thinking of getting a phone couldnt recommend the iphone4 enough I love mine it really does do everything.

Until the iPhone comes to Verizon, I won't be getting one. I'm not switching over to AT&T just for the phone. I've been using the LG Ally (Android) for a couple months now and I love it. I really like the keypad used for typing and texting rather than a touch screen. The apps are great, pretty similar to ones on the iPhone too.

I read you wont switch to AT&T but I also second the iphone. It is totally worth the switch.

If you like the touch screen and the full keyboard, may I also suggest the LG Ally? It's cheaper, runs on an android operating system, and besides, I love it! And I can tell you some killer free apps. I adore this phone. I really wanted one with the touch screen and the full keyboard, but I didn't want to pay for the torch or the droid 2, so this was a great option for me.

I have a blackberry curve 3G. It's pretty much free with a plan and can be upgraded to blackberry OS 6. The screen and camera sort of suck though.

StarSlayer agrees: The Droid keypad also annoyed me because the numbers are on the same keys as some letters.

I had a motorola rival before my Ally.

As you can see, it also had a slide out keyboard. Problem was, I slid my phone open, and the top just kinda kept going >.< Guy at Verizon told me that's not been reported with the Ally, and I don't have to use the slide out keyboard if I don't want to, and I usually don't use it. It's just nice to have.

One i would highly recomment is the Samsung Galaxy S...

it's a beast of a phone, the specs pass the Iphone with ease... it's an Android phone and one of the highest spec phones around at the moment...

not to mention the screen is actually the new Samsung developed SuperAMOLED technology, giving the smart phone an actual larger and higher definition screen than the Iphone...

Basic phone comes with 16gb memory but with extendable memory to add another 32gb ontop of that with MicroSD.
