Sarah Michelle Gellar was born 14 April 1977. She is 36 and will turn 37 this year.

The age of Buffy the character is a bit more doubtful. There seems to be no continuity between various episodes with one date on the tombstone at the end of Season 5 / beginning of Season 6 and different ages mentioned in other episodes. There is a thread here about it. Her headstone says 1981 - 2001:

Aww. That's so cute. 🙂 It's great to see them acknowledging things about Buffy. 😀 Wouldn't Buffy be turning 33 though? She turned 17 during season 2, 18 during season 3... So count the years up from there, that would make her 33 this year.

The show gave two conflicting dates for Buffy Summer's birthday, if I'm not mistaken? That's what is causing the confusion guys. I go with the January 1981 version, what do you guys regard more as canon?

I take 1981 as her year of birth. She turned 17 in January 1998, so 1981 is the one that I go with. Regardless of the other references to her birth in the show, 1981 is the one they seem to have actually worked off of in the story.
