SMG "in Talks for Buffy Movie"?

There were good vampires drinking pig's blood in "My Best Friend Is A Vampire" long before Buffy hit the small screen, as well as the "Forever Knight" series, and Barnabas Collins in the original "Dark Shadows" was considered a real sex symbol for awhile. Girls used to get the shivers just at the thought of having him bite them. I'm not saying that "Twilight," "True Blood," and "The Vampire Diaries" weren't inspired in part by Joss and his creations, but his ideas weren't entirely new, either. It's just the current trend,

I love "Forever Knight."
hm I'm not sure I'd like to see a Buffy movie. I'm perfectly happy with the way both shows wrapped up and now with the comics and all... I don't know, it just seems like a movie would run a great risk of mucking things up.

The only reason a Buffy movie is being rumored is because of the popularity of twilight and those other shows. I cant say Im happy with the idea of a movie with none of the original cast...but if the title itself gets people to look at the source, and gets more people to watch and appreciate the REAL buffy, thats fine by me. So long as we dont get all the twilight fans all of the sudden focusing their attention on Buffy.
Also, the genre today needs to be pushed away from all those girls that have become dependant on their vampire counterparts, and moved more towards the independent female that even though shes in love with the vamp she still has time to kickass all by herself.

This better never happen without the cast or Joss being in it... I've been waiting for a follow-up to the Buffyverse for years, but not like this.

Just to comment on all the twilight chatter... maybe they really just like the books. I mean all these people just seem to be too passionate about them to just be "sheep." I think people just need to stop blaming Twilight for everything. So you liked something first? That does make your place in a fandom better. As vikingsgirl said, people like and discover things at different points in their life. If the thing that introduces it to them is a book that they pick up to read because they notice many people like it, then I don't see a reason that we need to belittle or make them appear dumb.
The Vampire diaries could not have ripped off Buffy btw, because the books the show are based off of were writen almost 6 years before before Buffy started.

And there is no way a Buffy movie is going to happen 🙁 Even with all these rumors I don't think there will ever will be.

First up - Buffy Movie...

My gut instinct is that it's looking less likely as time goes by, especially with the TV cast - I'd love to be proved wrong though, but it would be a shame to tinker if it was a half hearted mess so I'm relieved to see Joss sticking to his guns and not going all Godfather III on us.

Twighlight and things currently smelling of vamp dust...

Admittedly people are sheep (not just now, but ummmmm since the beginning of time) and a few things being made now are cashing in on the interest created by Twighlight but as has been pointed out above stories have always been recycled / ripped off intentionally and unintentionally, after all isn't it the sincerest form of flattery? And the vikingsgirl is spot on when it comes to different stories at different times in your life - and anyway - why worry over whether if anything is cool or not? If you like something you like it - what's the big deal? I love opera / classical music, which are not exactly bouncing in coolness but they float my boat and I'm not going to sink anyone else's boat just because I don't like it...getting seasick now.
