Have anybody else seen the SMG interview ( how Buffy staked our hearts ) where she says that there was heated moments with Alyson and she and her Buffy co stars were pitted against one another and how she envied others co stars as they had a better life/work balance as she was the one who was always working and that that would not happen today , SMG says she regrets the way some things went down and there were times she wishes she could have done things differently but she did not know how to handle the stress she was under, also in a interview for the same book Emma said the problems came from the top

I see this book just came out a week ago! I'm looking into getting it and will comment more when I've read it. But I hope SMG doesn't still feel guilty for what you describe. She was under a lot of stress, and I hope her co-stars - also now 25 years older and wiser - understand that.

It was common for the teen network to stir up drama with the stars of its productions in the late 90s. The drama behind the scenes on BH90210 gave that show a HUGE ratings boost, so other networks began to pit their stars against each other, to keep the shows in the forefront of the teen demographic. There was a lot of drama on many of the WB shows at that time--Dawson's Creek between Michelle and Katie, Roswell between Katherine and Shiri, even 7th Heaven had drama between Jessica Biel and the show runner.. it was awful. There was even a WB show about the behind the scenes drama of a TV show called "Gross Pointe".
