'Buffy' to Host MTV Movie Awards

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Sarcastic comic Jack Black and comely "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star Sarah Michelle Gellar have been tapped to host the MTV Movie Awards show.

MTV President Van Toffler said Friday he hoped teaming the outrageous comic rocker with the attractive vampire slayer "will make for an explosive and unpredictable show."

The music network encourages outrageousness during the program, with 2000 host Sarah Jessica Parker appearing clad only in a towel at one point, and Hugh Jackman and John Travolta accepting a dare last year to flash their bellies onstage.

Black, star of "Shallow Hal" and singer with the folk-rock duo Tenacious D, was nominated for an MTV movie award for playing a persnickety music lover in 2000's "High Fidelity."

Gellar played the part of an oversexed, conniving teen-ager in 1999's "Cruel Intentions," winning MTV Movie Awards for best female performance and best kiss (with actress Selma Blair).

I think I'm the only one here who is STILL happy Hugh Jackman accepted that dare. I died. 😉
 
my god I missed that and never knew? Hugh Jackman :drool: Although I doubt John Travolta would have needed to flash his, form what I heard he's been eating enough pies recently that the shirts he wears would be far too tight 😀

More on topic, sounds like a very cool show, I'm going to have to make sure I watch that one; I always manage to miss it. Someone remind me when it's on 😀

On topic: I usually don't watch the MTV Movie Awards unless there's someone I like on it. The awards are scheduled to be shown on Thursday, June 6th, and this is MTV.. they're bound to repeat it billions of times.
 
I heard about this a couple days ago in the paper, and I was screaming. I jumped on my sister and told her.😛 I always watch the MTV Movie Awards, and I have never been so excited about it. This should make for the greatest of the 'Awards'. Last year was also great, with Kirsten Dunst and Jimmy Falon, but I'm sure SMG could beat them in coolness. Lol. Especially since Jack Black is so damn hilarious.🙂 Yay for Sarah!!
 
I hope they will show it here in Holland! I voted already. Hoping Queen of the Damned will win😛
 
I always miss it the first time it's on but as someone already said they always repeat it a million times.

Should be really funny, the MTV Awards are always great. Looks like there are some good people nominated, too 🙂 Yay
 
i dont like hugh jackman i personaly like James Marsden or Ioan Gruffudd or Josh Hartnett or Jamie Bamber.

I am really looking forward to watching the MTV Movie Awards. Like Buffy Summers said they are always more entertaining then the other shows. Plus with SMG and Jack Black it should be pretty funny.
Has anyone seen the commercials for it on MTV? They are very funny.
 
I can't wait to see the MTV Movie awards. Sarah and Jack are gonna do an incredible job! I've seen the promos on MTV and they're so funny! I love the one where Sarah says to Jack ' You know? If you weren't wearing glasses right now, I'd kick your ass.'
That was so funny when she punched him 😀 It's so hard to believe that Sarah has a black eye in those MTV promos. She must have a really good makeup artist!
