There were a lot of talks that Sarah is not comfortable being asociated with Buffy, and I think this video proves that talks are wrong! I belive what Sarah said!

No reason why she should be. Her work on the show was amazing.

Certainly she's not ashamed of her work as Buffy. It's undoubtedly the best and most successful work that she's ever done. It made her famous, and almost certainly made her financially comfortable for a long time to come. What's to be ashamed of? (Well, there's Freddie, but that's a different topic altogether.)

Seriously, I think that Sarah is the type of professional who always gives the best that she can give with the material that she has to work with, and I would be truly surprised, for that reason, if she were ever ashamed of her work in anything that she has ever done.

I love her response! "...scared of being associated with a wonderful, 3 dimensional character?" or something to that effect. Really. Her acting on Buffy was stunning, probably the best acting she's done in a while. She shouldn't be ashamed!

When was this made, though? Has that reunion thing already happened?

yes, you can find it on youtube. Paley fest 2008. I think I found it under Buffy reunion.

Thanks for posting, SMG is always a treat to see 😀

Yeah, she's a smarty. Finished high school early. And she is peofessional, I've always known her this way, she's also a workaholic, as she says.

By the way, when is she back to work? You know, after giving birth and taking care of the baby. She does intend to be back right...? I miss her and her work.

We don't know. She said she'll probably stay one or two years at home with her baby.

Aw it was so good to see that. I see her point I like how she said that IMO that is how I felt Buffy was such a great character and she should be proud so I am glad she is. I like that her and Seth are such good friends.

That makes me feel so much better that she said that! I always got the sense that she was somewhat ashamed of being Buffy, I'm glad I know the truth! 🙂 She's great.

lol, I may be putting myself in the way of flying objects here but I'm gonna say it anyway. She seemed a little too indignant for my liking. Her tone changed when she was answering that question, she became quite defensive. And that may well be because she's aware of what is said of her but it came across as a little forced to me. I believe when she says that she isn't ashamed but I don't know, something just didn't sit right with me. Especially when she goes right back to be casual and genuinely happy to talk about Seth - which does always make me smile.

I belive Sarah. Of course, she probably heard that rumors about her, and she got defensive, because they're not true.

I really like what Seth said about her! ^^

February '08, during the Writer's Strike. Paley Fest was March '08. So, that was all pre-baby.

Does anybody know if the entire Paley Fest event is available on DVD or download? I've only seen snippets on You Tube.

ETA: oops, nevermind about the last question, I found it on Amazon.com. I wish it was available on Netflix, though, I really don't feel like paying $20 for it. 🙁

I did say that it may well have been because of that but like I said, it just didn't sit right with me. She was too defensive. And I've always been one of these people who can be quite cynical about these things. People on camera can be very different to who they are on camera so regardless of that interview it may not be entirely true. If you believe then good for you, it just means you're not a cynical old fool like I am. 🙂

I know what you're saying, I had the same feeling during this interview too. Even just by her facial expressions alone. I don't know, something was just off for me. Everybody will try to say the right thing when you have lights, camera, and an audience all looking at you. I hope she was being sincere though, because Buffy means a lot to me and SO many others.

Facial expression was something I totally forgot to mention but picked up on too! (Thank you so much for the reminder T! 🙂) When it was brought up her face kinda of took this very stoic/set expression and her eyes moved around a lot which along with her tone was just, off as you said. But as soon as Seth was brought up, it relaxed.

I hope she was being sincere too, don't get me wrong. All of the things I picked up on could have just been down to annoyance. But this interview didn't clear the whole thing up for me, that's all.

To me, she sounded/looked offended. Regardless of if she did want to shy away from Buffy, there's no reason to be ashamed of it.

Huh. I hadn't noticed it the first time, but when I rewatched, her eyes kept looking to the side and her face turned stony. Hmm.

She looked lovely though, and seemed very down-to-earth. 🙂

We could analyze again and again, and still never know how she truly felt. 🙂 But, for me, the way I saw it was she seemed taken aback when the guy asked the question of whether she was worried of being associated with Buffy, since that is always like the kiss-of-death for actors. Being associated only with one character resulting in no one (director, audience, etc) seeing them as another character. She jerked her head back, then started shaking her head as the guy was finishing up the question, showing she is not at all worried about being associated with such an iconic character. Maybe she was mad that such a question like that was asked because I'm sure it's not the first time it was asked, and she's always said how she's proud of the show. I can't blame her though for being mad. I would be too if someone thought I wasn't proud of being the central part of a show that was revolutionary for women on TV. 🙂

I agree. It baffles me when people ask her that question for the fact that she has done so much if I were her that would get me mad but oh well we all know she was great in Buffy and other things.

Of course we won't but that won't stop us from trying. 😉

I don't think she's ashamed of being on Buffy or being associated with the role. But I don't think she's too happy to talk about it all the time. The show was and still is important for a lot of people but she probably want to move on. Her decision not to contunue doing the show shows that. At least in my mind. She's done so much besides Buffy it can't be fun to still get questions about it. Anyone think that Zach Braff regrets Scrubs just because he didn't want to do it anymore? I'm sure he'll be very happy talking about Scrubs a few years into the future when he's trying to promote new things...

She need to give a "good" answer not to piss a lot of fans off. Celebrities often say what's best, not what they really feel and I also felt like she wasn't very comfortable talking about Buffy what ever the reason was.

Lol, of course we can keep trying! That's where the fun comes in! :)
