Schillaci agrees: The worst type of smoker - The cadger, never pays, always puffs

Lol, I always pay, I just don't buy. Actually...i dont always.

I think I've mastered the art of bumming cigarettes. It came in handy when I had absolutely no money to my name and a bitchy addiction to deal with, or when I was just drunk and didn't want to smoke my own. I never just outright ask for one, unless I know they would give me one. Sometimes you just have to make them think they're doing something they want to do, like be kind to this poor kid with no cigarettes. It's 98% effective, I assure you.

I'm, unfortunately, an active smoker now. I had my first cigarette this past Christmas Eve, when I was drinking with family friends. And then I became a drunk smoker, because smoking when you're drunk is just lots of fun. And then I got a job at a call center. Most stressful job I've ever had. The smoking helped me get through it. And now I smoke when I'm bored. And everyone I've dated smokes. Let me tell you, a cigarette after sex is just amazing.

So now when I have money to buy them I can smoke anywhere from 7-14 a day. I plan on quitting soon, I'm slowly getting tired of them actually and I hate that I spend money on them. I'm pretty positive I could get it down to maybe three a day - one when I get up, one before bed, one during the day. Except on days when I drink, because I'll probably always be a drunk chain-smoker, and I'll always want to smoke after sex.

Oh I would however like to at least switch to American Spirits, I've had friends tell me they make it easier to not smoke as many a day somehow, and plus they're organic, so no rat poison and such, I would think.

You've had sex?! aww our little randys growing up! The older you get, the harder it becomes to quit. quitting young is the best way to go.
And I don't plan on starting.

This might be a silly question but do people ever plan to start smoking? I can see how easy it is to start or wanting to try so you know what it's like. But that's not the same as planning on starting is it? Do people ever have their first cigarette or what ever with the intention of keeping it up for a long time if not for their rest of their life? So you people that do smoke please clear things up for me. Because most people around me don't smoke and those who do or did sure never planned it. Just how naive am I?

Oh crap, I voted before reading the thread.

I voted "non-smoker," although I do smoke hookah socially. But not often at all, maybe once a month or less.

I'm a smoker and have been for about 7 or 8 years, but I am trying to cut down at the minute 🙂
I also have the occasional joint, but that's more of a social thing.

so you were like 11/12 when you started smoking? ;D
I'm a bit non, a bit ex, and a bit smoker. Smoked from maybe 14/15 - 20, again from 24- about 30, started again pre wedding when 32, stopped day after the big day I should think! Didn't smoke for another 6 years, but took it up again about 9 months ago when things started to get stressful at home. It's a goot way of getting that 'smoke break' away from the chaos of 2 under 5's. But it's no more than 10 - 20 a WEEK!. Sometimes it's a week before I think 'oh! I'm going to go outside with a cup of tea and a fag!'

Hardcore smokers get annoyed with me. Never was a chain smoker unless out at raves or clubs. Even then I would smoke 100 over a long weekend then nothing for a week. Used to habitually light one up to get brain working when writing, then leave it burning. Always felt like there was something missing after I gave up when out at a pub pre-ban - a drink in one hand, what should be in the other?? But then, I only drink about twice a month, so that's hardly an issue any more 😉

Never have, never will. My dad was a moderate to heavy smoker most of his life, as was his father. My uncle and aunt were very heavy smokers. My mother would smoke whenever she wanted to lose weight. That's 5 members of my family, 5 people who I loved very much, all dead of smoking induced cancer. The 5 strongest arguments that I could ever imagine for NOT smoking. If the day ever comes that I want to commit suicide, I'll do it quickly. with a bullet through my brain. Dragging it out for a few years of radiation treatments and chemo therapy is no way to die.

If there happen to be any smokers present who might be offended by either my attodude or my statements, then I apologize for the offence, but I stand behind the sentiment.

I'm kind of weird in that I'm a total non-smoker, but I'm actually quite fond of the smell of cigarette smoke. I think it's because my gran smoked all her life (until health issues made her want to stop), so I kind of subconsciously assosciate it with good things. She never actually smoked right near us, so it's not like I enjoy it being blown in my face, but I don't mind being around people who do smoke, though I do try and avoid the secondhand smoke itself.

Anyway, I've never actually smoked for myself. I just can't quite comprehend how breathing in smoke could be pleasurable - and I'm not particularly interested in finding out.

None smoker 🙂
never wanted to try it and was HUGLY put off when my family of 4 was smoking in the same room at once when i was walking through... disgusting 🙁

While it's not something I very openly admit.. I am a smoker. Mostly socially but I enjoy one at work during my breaks, so I guess that makes me a smoker. I go through a pack about every other day depending on what I am doing (going out, hanging with friends, work, school, etc.)

I smoke cigs when i drink otherwise i can't really stand the smell. But weed I smoke all day, everyday. If not all day at least everyday it makes life more enjoyable 😛

Never smoked in my life or even been curious to try it. My dad was a "secret smoker" who has now admitted he does smoke but honestly I just don't like it or even get it. The only thing that I associate with smoking from the smell of it is, it makes me think of the old gigging days before the smoking ban came in. It weirdly brings back good memories but apart from that I don't like smoking.

Once, when I was four, my gran put a cigarette in my mouth (I know she's crazy, and my mom was so mad at her). I'm a non-smoker. I can't even stand the smoke.
