Snow record in Stockholm!

Woohoo, new snow record set. We haven't seen this much snow in November in 111 years apparently!


At least 30 centimetres of snow fell in Stockholm on Wednesday, more than on any other November day since records began in 1905, according to national weather agency SMHI.

The previous November record was set in 1985 when 29 centimetres fell in one day (however, that does not even come close to the all-time record for Stockholm: 76 centimetres in March 1909).

“In the morning around 21 centimetres had fallen. During the day another 15 to 20 centimetres fell,” SMHI meteorologist Elisabeth Saarnak told Aftonbladet on Wednesday.
On Thursday morning at 7am the snow was 39 centimetres thick at SMHI's weather station in Stockholm.

No wonder getting to work was a bleeping nightmare yesterday! I live outside of Stockholm too (although I work in the city), they measured 50 cm of snow for Wednesday here. Bring it on I say, I'm loving this 😀

We get 1cm of snow here and the trains come to a standstill. It's hilarious because we should be used to it and prepared for it.

I remember a few winter's back the snow and ice was so bad people had to abandon their cars on the motorway after a six hour standstill.

Yeah, it's the same here really, even when we don't have massive amounts of snow. Every single year it's like "oh my god, snow - again? What's happening?" and then there's utter chaos for a few days. It's kind of ridiculous.

We don't get much here, and if we do get any it's literally the end of the world. People can't drive their cars, or go to work (well, apart from me, I always manage both) 😉

Just glad that I didn't need to be in Stockholm Yesterday.
Have been working there almost everyday for the past 3 weeks but luckily we managed to finish before this mess.

Its kinda the same when it rains in Perth.

Or when it gets hot and everyone is crying when the power goes out, cos they are sitting in their air con house/office with every appliance in the place on during peak heat.

I keep getting sunburnt and it is stupid, I have to carry a billion things with me to go outside or I fry and dehydrate and its not even hot yet! I guess I cant freeze to death, so thats a plus.

I don't see as many bunnies around right now, usually they're everywhere. As for dogs... Well, my dog loves it at least. This time of year is when she really comes alive and turns back into a puppy! 😀 She'll literally dive into piles of snow or run her head through them like a her nose is a plow. It's adorable. Yesterday she hid herself in snow and took a little nap while I had some coffee.

Isn't freezing to death supposed to be a bit like going to sleep? Everything just going numb and then you're gone? Sounds all right 😉

Wednesday showed about 39 car accidents before lunch, lol, so same goes here clearly. 😉
It was pretty bad though, it got so slippery that even snowplows tipped over into ditches!

the other reason why you can't see the bunnies is because the Aussies keep killing bunnies. Heck they even built a fence with which to catch them and three wires ran along the ground so we could electrify thousands at once and not distort the pelt which is used to make the famous Australian hat The Akubra. Some bunnies do escape but they get caught by the men with sub-machine guns, the models for Easter bunnies can have the odd hole or ten in them.
We do have Import Company's around the world.
But if you know of anyone who has a few spare of them as pets please contact the Akubra Hat Co.

Thats cute with the dog. I can imagine it.

It is supposed to be a top of 36C here today, but only one day of it, thank goodness.

I was wrong about the weather - it was hot today too, but an early cool change made me forget that I would get burnt admiring my sunflowers, and I am red again. At least I did manage to repot the aloe vera.

Has it melted yet? How long does it take for snow to melt? Will there be flooding risks?

I feel like my air conditioner and oven are in a fight for my love. Air con wins.
