They are predicting the south and mid-west to be hit with some giant storm over the weekend. I am right on the top line of it and I'm hoping that we only get a bit of that action.
 
Just more rain this way, only had the tiniest bit of snow this winter
 
I keep seeing claims that the UK is going to be covered in snow, yet all that's happened so far is rain.
 
Well this coming storm prediction is getting lots of local media attention. People around here are stocking up on the necessaries. Wal Mart was very busy this afternoon which is unusual for a middle of the week day. I hoping that it's not going to be as bad around here as predicted but we'll just have to deal with it as it comes. I'm not worried about it too much since I no longer have to go to work. I can just hunker down at home and stay warm. We've been very lucky so far this winter season with the mild temps and weather we've had so it's not like were not due for some snow and ice.

Yeah, people are sort of panicking here in Tulsa where I live, but I'm not really worried. I've gotten used to the challenging weather here. I've got all the provisions I need, and honestly, though I don't want to miss work, I'd welcome a few days hunkered down at home. I've been so exhausted. The only thing I worry about is the power going out, which of course would be a drag. I do have a gas stove, so at least I could still cook, and of course I'll have hot water, but not having the televison and heat would be a drag.

Yeah, panic over the storm is definitely happening here in Oklahoma where I live as well. I had to go to three stores just to find candles and gallons of water.

Time for a binge watch I think!

Well as of 9:29pm Friday 1/23/2026 in the middle of the Midwest part of the U.S. WE HAVE NOTHING! Just a temp of 1 degree F.
I'm hoping that it dips down low enough to miss us, or mostly miss us. But I guess right now it's a wait and see game.
Like @Joan the Vampire Slayer said, losing power would the only bad thing. My house is all electric so I would have neither heat or hot water. I do have a fireplace insert so we would not freeze as I have a little bit of burnable wood but it would be darn inconvenient.

A loss of power will take out most landlines, given that the majority of remaining landlines are cordless.

Hmm, I'll have to try that out, unplug the phone station and see what happens.

Update: phone went to voicemail but didn't ring, so yeah, cordless phones are useless in a powercut
 
Well it started snowing here at about 9 this morning. It's supposed to come to us in two rounds. Only a couple inches today (saturday) before ending tonight but it's supposed to start up again tomorrow morning and dump 6-9 on us before Sunday night. Oh Joy! Not Happy!

That's the upside of my house having gas and electric - at least if the electric is out, I still have hot water, because my water heater is gas-powered.

We got about two inches here. Pretty uneventful. Power is on. The bar I work at is closed today, so I get a snow day.
 
My apartment also has gas water & heater, BUT the idiots put an electric starter on the heater.
So if the power goes out I still lose heat! Gah! ๐Ÿ˜ก

Yeah, my heating and hot water are gas but without electricity they don't work.
