Snyder's Grave in "First Date"

Nice. Snyder was a great character, he was a complete asshole but he brought so much comedy and drama to the show, I just love him. A lot better than Principle Flutie

So true!!
I think I am on the side of family plot. I know people (older people mind you) that when they pass, no matter where they are, they are to be shipped back here to be buried within the family plot. So the dates on the larger plot probably belong to the first Snyder to reside in Sunnydale, and the rest of the family is probably buried surrounding the larger plot.

I think they were amazing at adding in little hints from the past or looking into the future. I think they do alot of things on purpose.

Besides, that's just awesome, and I think I really want to beleive that it IS Snyder's grave, cause I love how the world of Buffy twists and turns. With nods to past events. 🙂

I would guess that the official record would state that Snyder died in the explosion which destroyed Sunnydale High- as it no doubt would for the likes of Larry and Harmony. In which case, as a workplace accident, the school board would probably have paid for a memorial tablet on the family plot to cover up the fact that there were no traceable remains.

I live in a former gold rush town with an old graveyard.

That is a family tombstone, and individual names are put on the tombstone. There is rarely one person buried with a tombstone like that. It's usually a husband and wife, at the very least. Sometimes they use all four sides and there may be several generations buried.

100 years ago they used to put things like "Died 33 Years old" or "From County Cork, Ireland." They don't do that now, and I haven't seen a tombstone like that for about 100 years.

You can tell that Snyder's tombstone is an old tombstone. I haven't seen new tombstones that are "reverse sculptured." Most newer tombstones are engraved. Also, there is a patina that would not be there if it was a new tombstone. It also takes about 1-2 years before a tombstone is placed. The ground has to settle. And that doesn't look like a 2 year old tombstone. New tombstones are really shiny and clean.

It is doubtful that new tombstones are allowed where Buffy lives. Most cemeteries in non-rural areas don't allow tombstones. They are too much maintenance, it is hard to mow grass around them, and they are subject to vandalism.

Now let's all take a moment to remember the greatest principal that Sunnydale High's history. He is truly missed by all. 🙂

BTW, when you see the "Alpert" mausoleum, think about me. That's my last name. 🙂
