So I just shattered my iPhone screen...

It's $130 (if I am not mistaken) just to replace the screen, providing you didnt do any other damage.
 
I guess my question is, is it worth it if I have an iphone 5s to spend that money on replacing the screen or if it makes more sense just to upgrade the phone.

Actually I told you wrong, I thought it was going to be end of Q1, they are saying end of Q3 now, so September.
And I do not have advice per se, but I will tell you that when I dropped my laptop off to be fixed I was amazed at their level of service. Including the day I dropped it off and picked it up, it only took three days for them to UPS it out, fix it and bring it back. I could not believe it. Dropped it off on a Thursday late afternoon and got it back Saturday morning.

In a few months they are coming out with the new iphone.. so.. that's up to you.. if you spend money now to upgrade in two months time the same phone will be cheaper.
 
The new 4" iPhone 5SE (name subject to change) is apparently going to be released by the end of this month at a price rumoured to be between below the 5S it replaces. We're probably replacing our 4Ss at Pointy Towers with this one...just realised that doesn't help you very much...I'll get me coat.

That's what I thought at first too.. but then for some reason I thought they pushed it back.
Have you considered buying a refurbished or used phone and just transferring your sim card? I don't know what the prices are, but there's always the chance that the damaged screen isn't the only problem with your phone, and outright replacement might be the best solution.
 
I guess it depends on how much you want a new phone or if you are happy with the one that you have? For me, I have the Samsung Galaxy s5 but because I'm holding out for the new iPhone I'd just replace the screen for now and sit and wait for the new phone to be launched... (not guaranteeing I will buy the new iPhone, I might wait for the new release so the s6plus goes down in price a little lol). So I guess it depends on if you want a new phone yet or if you can wait longer.
 
I'd suggest looking up local adds. Sometimes there are some small repair shops that will do it for much cheaper than what you'd usually pay (downside is they can be a bit sketchy, especially when it's in someone's basement).

Just something to bear in mind. It might be nothing to do with your issue Buffy Summers (and might not affect iPhone 5s).... but it's worth knowing. I'd hate for you to get it repaired and then find your phone is bricked....!
 
Actually, ignore that link, it looks like it only affects iPhone 6.... my mistake.
 
@Athena, maybe it does, I really am not familiar with it. But in my town there is a repair shop that does it for cheap, maybe 50$ to replace the screen. You might be right though, it might just be that it's older models.

I agree, they don't even take the time to improve user experience on them.

I can't even get any new apps on my iPod Touch anymore because it can't upgrade past iOS 6...and every app now requires iOS 8 and up 🙁

If you can't repair the screen for a good price, just get a new phone.

If you stay with an iPhone, you must install on it a screen protector, so the screen won't crack if you drop it (iPhones are made of glass).
 
Nothing, it's still got a broken screen. I'll probably just get the screen replaced. It's just really inconvenient for me to go to the apple store as it's not near where I live.

If Apple follows their usual pattern, as soon as the new one is available, they cripple the old ones by slowing them down.
 
Fix what you have got or get a new phone, you should be able to get the comparison prices online. Another thing to consider is the longevity of some big firms these days.
