So I Think I'm Done... (Spoilers)

Buffy. "Okay, fine. You're not down with Angel. Why would you ever come to me?"
Spike: "I want Dru back. I want it like it was before he came back."

And for Connor... he only remarked that he conceived and loves him WITH a soul. What's the point? He told Lorne he could remember everything Angelus (himself WITHOUT a soul) had made. He didn't remember the Beast because Jasmine had eradicated everything about her Beast from this dimension and time, therefore Angel couldn't remember that episode of his life.

Again, I don't want to make a comparison between the two vampires but I can't stand seeing that comparison every time. Can't we discuss without that? Buffy is Buffy, Faith is Faith, same for Angel and Spike. Same for all of us, no matter how many things we can have in common... we are all different.

Hugs!

"We like to talk big. (indicates himself) Vampires do. 'I'm going to destroy the world.' (looks at the officer) That's just tough guy talk. (steps over to the car) Strutting around with your friends over a pint of blood. (sits on the hood) The truth is, I like this world. (pulls the cigarette pack from the officer's shirt pocket) You've got... dog racing, Manchester United. (pulls one out and drops the pack on the officer) And you've got people. (exhales) Billions of people walking around like Happy Meals with legs. It's all right here. (lights the cigarette and takes a drag) But then someone comes along with a vision. With a real... (exhales) passion for destruction. (takes another drag and looks at Buffy) Angel could pull it off. Goodbye, Picadilly. Farewell, Leicester Bloody Square. You know what I'm saying?"
Not to mention does it really matter if he did it for selfish reasons or not? I mean fact of the matter is the "second worse vampire in recorded history" STILL helped save the world.

Again, I don't want to do a Spike vs. Angel thing here... but I just HATE it it when people try to cheapen Spike in Becoming Part 2 and take away from the fact Buffy couldn't have done it without him.

And I hate it when people completely miss the point about Spike's actions in Becoming. He sees Angel on the verge of finishing the off Buffy and what does he do? Shrugs off and leaves. It can't really be shown any clearer that Spike couldn't care less about saving the world. Not to mention he was all excited about the Judge destroying all of humanity earlier in the season. Words are cheap. His actions show Spike's true colours.

And of course it matters if he did it for selfish reasons or not. If it didn't, we might as well claim Wolfram and Hart are paragons of virtue just because they gave Angel the amulet that ended up destroying the First's army. Or that Adam is good because he killed Walsh, or Angel because he killed the Beast, etc.

You forget that Spike was an evil and souless vampire. Every vampire would have done the same. I do believe him when he says he likes this world. But he likes Dru even more. Also, he HATED Angel. And knew that the only way to get rid of him AND have Dru back, is by joining forces with Buffy. Yes, for selfish reasons.
True colours? It's almost every vampire's true colours. And that was true only back then, when all he did was for himself and for his love (Dru). He's changed since then, and did save the world for real, not for selfish reasons. That really goes to show how much he's changed. From saving the world for selfish reasons (or helped to until he got his wishes), to saving the world for the sake of saving the world AND his love.
And being a love's bitch, he's always done things for his love - first with Dru, then with Buffy. Sometimes he didn't know how to show his love (i.e. cuffing Buffy in his crypt, wanting to turture Dru till she wants him back, choking her till she passes out, trying to prevent Buffy from turning herself in after she thought she killed Kathrina, etc.), but when he loves, it's from all his heart. And he usually puts this in priority. There are vampires who are MUCH MUCH more selfish than him. He's got a humanity in him.

COMPLETELY AGREE! 🙂 and of course he was thinking how to save the world, Manchester United and Piccadilly when he assembled the Judge!

But the difference between all those characters and Angel is that Angel has already forayed into the dark side on several occasions... Willow, Faith, and Connor only dipped into it once and never went back.

After reading season 8, you still say that Willow "dipped into it once and never went back"?

True colours? It's almost every vampire's true colours.

Well, that's exactly the point (except for the world "almost"), so I am not sure why you are disagreeing with me.

I wasn't disagreeing with you about that. I was correcting you because you said that specifically about Spike.

I'll never be done. Joss has me hook, line, and sinker. As long as it's Buffy, I'll be there, even though I'm still heart-sick over Giles's death.
