After Buffy had clawed her way out of her grave and got home. Spike told her she'd been gone for ??? days and that he tried to save her every night in his dreams.

What ways do you think he tried to save her? The first night was a definite failure.

On the ground Spike saw Buffy jump from the tower, he shouted up to her,
"What d'you think you are doing?"
Buffy called back, "OUT...FOR...A...WALK......BITCH"

LMFAO!!!!! Whew... I needed that!
He felt so guilty and downtrodden that he couldnt save her from Glory that every night after that
(147) he tried to atone for her death. He watched over Dawn, fought side-by-side with the Scoobies...Everytime he killed something evil it was to honor Buffy.

that is SUCH a perfect avatar for you! :)
I think in his dreams his didnt let an old man with a lizard tongue give him a good walloping

Maybe in one, he stopped to make sure the old man was dead in his apartment instead of just leaving him with a sword through his chest.

Poor Spike, when he said that to her it was so sad! But thank you for your idea about it, that does make me smile! I will think of that now when I watch that part from now on 🙂

Yeah, that annoys me every time I watch it.
Spike's marching up there, blood pumping, ready to defend Dawn and the love of his life and the whole world and to be the hero...and what happens? The lizard guy brushes him off like he's a flea. So irritating.

I've always interpreted that comment as that he dreamed about that night in "The Gift" where he failed to save Dawn. He experienced that day over and over every night. It haunted him that he failed at saving Buffy. Because of course, if he had succeded in saving Dawn, (before she was bled) Buffy wouldn't have had to jump.

I read a fic once where Spike went back up to the top of the tower before Buffy jumped, and bit her (thereby getting her blood) and jumped off the tower himself, which closed the portal. So that could have been one of the ways he saved her, if a little far-fetched (but hey, it's Spike's subconscious, so...)

LOL I read the same kind of story last week, only it was Angel that jumped ;)... interesting theory all the same, though
