What if she had been standing where Tara was when the bullet was fired. Do you think Tara would've gone evil?

EDIT: The title is odd sounding. Not like "so what" but like "so, what"

Wow, I find it somewhat impossible to imagine Tara as evil...

I do not think that Tara would have turned evil, and that she likely would not have sought revenge on Warren. This is not to imply that Tara didn't love Willow as much as Willow loved her, rather the opposite. I think that she loved Willow more than Willow loved her, and such would have the restrain to stop herself from murdering in Willows name, because Willow would not have wanted that - just like Tara wouldn't have wanted Willow to descend into a murderer in Tara's name.

I don't think she would have gone evil at all. Tara was much more the "nature" wicca rather than the "spells" wicca like Willow was. I think Tara would have accepted it as part of nature, she would have been deeply sad and she would have stayed in the series I believe but she would not have been evil. Now the rest of the scoobies......different story. I think Xander would have gone off the deep end and sought after the rest of them and I don't think that Buffy would have tried nearly as hard to stop Xander b/c she would feel the same way.

Good point!
I don't think it is in Tara's nature and I only think Willow went off the deep end because:

She was clearly far too absorbed in the magics.

Also I watched 'Something Blue' last night and just the way Willow behaves over Oz's departure. The attitude she adopts and how she jumps to magic to solve her problems even then. I think she has rejection issues or issues with losing someone she loves and I think that probably stems from her nerdy highschool years of being an outcast.

Tara, whilst not being cool about it, would have accepted it as fate and moved on - simple as.

I don't think Tara had an obsessive bone in her body - well maybe with Willow being the exception - and eventually she'd of forgiven Warren... eventually.
Shame we'll never really know isn't it.

Well said! Tara would never do what Willow did because, yes its just not in her nature to obsess and twist. And Willow only did because of the reasons you gave which made her react wrongly. : king :

I wonder how much of an impact the fact that Xander never returned her early affection (well, not until it was too late and completely inappropriate) had on her ability to deal with rejection. I suppose if one thinks it did, they could argue that Xander may have saved the world from Willow, but he also helped lay the groundwork for her to try to destroy it.

I don't think she would have gone evil, but done that normal process of grieving. Maybe wishing death upon Warren, but not actually killing him. But I do think it would have been interesting if it had been Willow dying instead, would Tara have had enough power to activate all the slayers through the scythe? I don't think she would have, but who knows? I guess we never will. It's an interesting thing to think about, though.

I think Tara was too kind and nature-y to go evil, but I do think she may have tried to bring Willow back (after all, she did help to bring Buffy back).

I definitely don't think she would have gone evil. For one thing, at this point, Willow was much more powerful than Tara, so even if she did turn to dark magic and try to bring Willow back, she probably could have been stopped by Buffy or Giles. But more importantly, Tara was all about good magic and the natural order of life and death, and, since Willow's death wasn't mystical, she would have known not to bring her back.

Yeah, it's pretty safe to say that Tara wouldn't have gone all veiny and black. I COULD imagine her being depressed and going into like an 'isolation', but her personality just doesn't fit into the ultimate evil category. She might have stayed with the Scoobies, been their ally in spells and the magicks until the end (in the memory of Willow). And hey, she could have even ended up being with Kennedy! Ughhh, but I just can't think too much on the death of Red or the Tara/Kennedy slashness.. it's depressing. 😛

Aha, just thinking about Tara/Kennedy makes my head spin!
Michelle, I think you really have a point there.

It was hard for Willow, growing up as the School Nerd. Not to mention her mom seemed to have all these specific things she wanted from her daughter. For Xander to befriend Willow meant the world to her, and because of that it seemed only natural that she would fall in love with him. Xander, being male and oblivious, never noticed that. And as Willow herself said in Surprise/Innocence, Xander would rather be with someone he hated than with her, and that really has to sting. Not only did he reject her for someone else, but he rejected her for the girl that he and Willow despised, and who likewise despised them.

From then on she went out with Oz, but the idea of feeling inferior was probably there constantly. After all, Oz was the first person to take an interest in her, and so it would be only natural for her to start to wonder if he was just with her because he felt sorry for her. Add to that her delving into magic, and Giles' clear disapproval thereof. Until that point, she had been Giles' shining star as it were... she studied hard, did well in school, was great at research, loved the library... 😉

Oz then left her, she ended up meeting Tara, Tara got her mind ripped from her, then she got it back, but then they broke up for awhile... There was one thing that Willow had to hold onto when Tara left... the possibility that Tara would come back. It may seem preposterous to some, but that was probably the one thing that held Willow together as much as it did. For someone who has spent her whole life trying to be accepted... the death of her loved one was the final blow in many ways.

In contrast, Tara, though she had a hard life in many, many ways, had learned and applied the concept of contentment. Out of all the Scoobies, she was the one who most thoroughly understood that life isn't always going to go your way, and that you need to learn to be content with whatever life sends you. It may suck, but it will get better, and you have a responsibility to those you care about (dead or alive), to realize things can always be worse, and that you can't control everything and make sure it all has a happy ending. Sometimes things don't. But what matters most is how you react. Are you going to blame the universe, or are you going to remain strong in spite of adverse circumstances?

Because of this, we would never see a dark Tara, and she certainly wouldn't try to make Warren pay. She, out of everyone present, would also be the first, imo, to realize that Willow's death was accidental. (Well, purposeful in a way, but Xander's appearance freaked Warren, he fired wildly with the intent to hit Buffy, and we all know what happened then)

Seeing that Tara had found her confidence in Willow, I think she would have just retreated back into the shadows, if just for a little while. However, going all big and bad and whatnot just didn't seem possible. I mean, think about all of the things she had endured in the past: The death of her mother and what was she left with then? She was probably made to use as a slave for Donnie and her father, but she didn't go dark. She moved on. And as her story progressed, she became more and more confident in herself to the point where she could hold her head up high and stand up against the one she loved. She knew and understood things better than most other people because she was reasonable and understood that you can't have the bad without the good and vice versa.

Dark Tara? No way that would have happened. I'd more see her go depressive and isolated for a week or two, while - I agree with Spuffy is true love there - Xander goes after the Trio with an axe and a murderous gleam in his eye. Tara would probably be the one who not only would learn to cope with Willow's death, but even help the other Scoobies cope with her death, too. She was such a strong and wise young woman. (gah this thread is making me sad again that she had to die... 🙁 )

I don't think Tara would have done the same. She was a LOT different than Willow, personality wise, and I don't think she had it in her to be evil. If anything, she would have been closer to Buffy because they would have worked together to take the Trio down and putting Warren in jail would have been what Tara would have wanted, I think.

I think Tara was too kind and nature-y to go evil, but I do think she may have tried to bring Willow back (after all, she did help to bring Buffy back).

Yes, but because Buffy might have been in Hell, and because it meant so much to Willow.

I think Tara wouldn't have gone evil, and wouldn't have brought Willow back. For one thing, she saw, every day, what bringing Buffy back had done to her and I don't think she would have knowingly put someone she loves through that. Also, she has always showed an aversion to tampering with natural death--remember when Dawn wanted to bring Joyce back? Willow had pushed Dawn to seek magical remedies, while Tara insisted that wiccas were not supposed to mess with life and death. She believed very strongly in that.

Yes, we all know Tara had a special insight into how the buffyverse really worked. But I wouldn't say she wasn't capable of becoming dark Tara. I think that someone said she may have loved Willow more than Willow loved her...and maybe that was true. Loving Willow gave Tara a place in the world. If you thought you lost your only purpose in life would you descend into a the dark abyss? My feeling is she would have started to become someone she didn't want to be but wouldn't have gotten to the dark place Willow got to only because she is Tara, virtuous and innocent. But would they not have explored a deeper darker part of Tara the innocent? Are we all capable of revenge and anger?

I don't think that Tara would have become dark, but where I don't agree is that she would only be depresse for a little while and go on with life helping the other scoobies. I know she was the most reasonable and mature but remenber how she said she reacted to her moms death. I do beleive that it would have been even worst with Willow.

Imagine if you loose the one person that you love, the one person that helped you when nobody did, the one person that loved you like you loved her, the one person that was willing to listen and confort you and that would accept you for who you are. What if that person sudddenly die and you were left alone. Like Willow said, she will never be able to look in her eyes again and see the love that she had for her. I'm sure Tara would have felt the same way towards Willow's death. I mean, she was her world, her everything, she was her forever. Tara said it herself 'I am you know, yours' Tara would have given everything for Willow. Even in the smallest of momments they spent together, you could see that they were in love, you could see the way that they were nothing without each other. Even when they were apart, you could still see this thing between them, the sadnest of not touching, feeling, talking, being together

So ok, maybe Tara would not have technicly become all dark and veiny but I'm sure she would have faced a huge depression and maybe she would not have killed Warren with her bare hand like Xander or Buffy might do, but her reaction would have been as bad, if not even worst then everyone else

(sorry, I do become a bit too passionate when it comes to Tara and Willow)

being passionate about Tillow is nothing to apologize for :)
i couldnt imagine tara turning evil if willow had have died instead. But i think the only reason that willow turned evil was because of all the magical problems she had encountered throughout season six. If tara had been shot but willow not have been addicted to magic then willow would have grieved but i dont think she would have went evil.
