So what's going on on your side of the world? Anything newsworthy?

There are a lot of problems at my girlfriend's apartment building. Since she has been in the same building for 35 years, her rent cannot increase as much as if a new tenant moved in, so they are trying to force her out. This is a large two-bedroom apartment and the owner could easily get $3000 for her apartment but she is paying $1212. The law says you can't be forced out of the apartment so they can mark it up for more and the way they have been terrorizing her is to steal things from her apartment. She put up cameras but they were the type that used a sim card and it was stolen during the first break-in. She got another camera from Best Buy but no one could read the stored data. She may move out and sublet it to someone else for $2000 and still pay $1212, so that is a possibility.
God, that's awful! Your poor girlfriend. They sound like worse than slumlords. That has to be illegal! They can't enter her unit without due cause or to do repairs, I believe? Look into tenants rights.

The post office is for sale!
So with no post office, how will you ship or receive packages? Will you be forced to use private, much more expensive companies like FedEx and UPS? In my country, the current President did cut funding for USPS, which I use regularly for my small business. Since, delivery is slow and costs are higher, but at least it still exists.

We'll have to travel to a collection point in a larger town.
At the moment it is the high temperatures that are being forecast for later on this week. Whilst there is no guarantee those temperatures will actually happen but if they do then the records of high temperatures will be broken (smashed).

Emu raids on Nannup's rubbish tip spark growing concerns for mob's health

The mob in Nannup, about 270 kilometres south of Perth, have been spotted with rotisserie chicken bags and other assorted rubbish stuck around their necks amid an ongoing search for food and water.

...the trespass of emus into the local landfill had been a consistent problem for a decade or more.
"We've been dealing with this aspect of our culture for nearly a decade, because years ago it reared its neck again, you could say, and they used to come into town and actually be very aggressive towards townspeople," he said.

"You wouldn't believe it, but it got to one point here where we got some road trauma money, and we built a 3-metre-tall sculpture of an emu … because of the influence they've had."

A bull casually strolling along Albany's pristine coastline is not an expected sight for many beachgoers.

"He visits the bowling alley in town, I've taken him with me as I've been horse-riding through the bush, he's gone to the Boddington rodeo — all over the place," Mr Kennedy said.

"You simply just ask him, 'Do you want to go for a ride on the truck?', and he will just wander up to it and get on."

it has gotten lost in the Iran news, but Austin had a mass shooting about 2am Sunday morning. 4 dead (counting the shooter) and 14 wounded. (Was 3 and 15 but one of the injured passed yesterday.

One of my workers was there and saw it, but fortunately she's unharmed.

Someone dobbed in the bull and now he's not allowed in the pub anymore, until he has an ear tag.

Gold star!

A large-scale search effort has been under way in the Central Australian outback town since the early hours of Sunday morning when Sharon's mother first noticed she had vanished.

Northern Territory Police have previously said the family was visiting the Old Timers town camp at the time, where Mr Lewis was last seen holding Sharon's hand late on Saturday night.

Neither Mr Lewis nor the five-year-old have been seen since.
"We believe that there are members of the community that absolutely know where Jefferson Lewis is," Commissioner Dole said.
Assistant Commissioner Malley said the search for Mr Lewis had been challenging, largely due to his lack of a digital footprint.

""This man doesn't have a telephone, doesn't have a bank account, he doesn't have a car, so some of the usual practices we do in 2026 aren't applicable," he said.

This is horrifying 🙁 I hope this little girl is found. Feels like only yesterday they found little Cleo alive, I hope this girl is also found alive.

I can't believe there were people possibly hiding him!
My city has successfully stopped two large AI data centers that wanted to locate here and suck up 1/3 of our daily power. The utility got 50,000 comments against it. And now our mayor is trying to put a moratorium on them and to require that they have their own electricity sources. Strike one for the masses against the tech billionaires!
